The Cubans

I know that *LOL* but since it's a UU, it should look different somehow. Maybe the color of it's body can be green or blue instead of grey.

What do you think Castro's title should be? Dictator? This is only really used when being to refered to by the AI. I can't see my Advisors saying "Our people in Havana are happy, Dictator" or having a "We love Dictator Day!". How about Comandante?

That's what I'm thinking.

I've been looking at stats for air units and there is no movement stat. Since you suggested to make MiG's +1 defence and +1 movement more then a Jetfighter, is it available to change movement for air units in the editor?

I like the "El Presidente" idea :p

Cuba´s special unit should be the "guerrillero"...

a 1/3/2 unit that can destroy ground improvements 2 times per turn... After all, that´s how they won the war against Batista. By guerilla warfare! :D

I suppose I could do both but give the Cubans some kind of dissadvantage that would even out the advantage of having 2 units only available to them...

maybe they should start with no science tech's given to them? that's probably TOO much of a price to pay.

No way! Cubans RULEZ!

I think that the gerrillero should be suficient (its very powerfull!)

They didn´t hav planes before the revolution, and the ones that came after wasn´t all that good (Cuban air space it´s easily violated).

I will post a poll l8r to see what the forum thinks the UU should be.

but first, when should this guerilla of yours be available and what would you prefer it use as a weapon to attack and defend itself? gun or machete?

excelent ability, but the attack is weanie. so, what would you suggest the cost should be to build?

Mmmmmmmmm......

Dunno.. if you want a historically correct civ the guerrillero should come with nationalism...

The attack makes it "fair" to the other civs (in fact, the defense should be 2 or even 1), but I was thinking of a requirement free timeless unit... a modern unit should be more powerfull.

Price for the guerrillero... mmm. Cheap. This unit its practically a saboteur, not meant for confrontation. It should get a MAYOR defence-ofense bonus if he is on a forrest-jungle title, but not more.

If you are thinking of a modern unit, then I think that should require saltpetter and be an expensive unit... a 3/4/2 ??

I really dunno...

:enlighten IDEA!! (for modern guerrillero) Takes the ofense valor of the defeated enemy unit...

Thanks.

As far as their look goes... I will probably just take the Rangers flic and touch their camo and helmet up.

Or I could make their suit transparent so all you see is a floating head, a gun, and boots :crazyeyes

The poll will be up as soon as i collect my info together

The uniform is the easiest of all.... FIDEL USE IT ALL THE TIME!Green olive and the little hat.

The Che Guevara's book on Guerrilla Warfare is very ilustrative...

Maybe it should be a small wonder... For your civ, if a city is taken you get a number of guerrilleros acording to the city size. But only cubans can build them...

I need to make this very clear, as I myself am Cuban-American. Cuban-American because I'm the first generation of American-born Cubans. My grandparents came 60 years ago (along with 80% of the middle and upper class of Cuba during the Exodus), my parents were 2 and 3. Now, Cuba's golden age was really in the 1950s, which is the romantic Cuba people still remember. Cuba now is (and I'm not just saying this) a pretty miserable place, since heavy embargos and zip economy have people raising their own animals to survive.

Now, personally, I would suggest the Mambi as their UU. The Mambi was a guerilla fighter that won the Cuban Revolutionary War, and forced Spain out of Cuba. They were basically farmers with machetes that would sneak around in the mountains and slice up Spaniards who were still useing swords and musket-style rifles. Putting them in place of the Knight, giving it a very high attack but low defense and speed, would probably be best.

In addition, you woulden't want to make Castro the leader if you're going for Cuba's "golden age." Bautista (look him up) was the last Cuban president prior to the Revolution/Invasion (depending on who's side you're on).

Cuba was a commercial center, so I would say Commercial and Religious would be the culture traits you want, since it is very Catholic.

NOW... if you're looking for post-commie Cuba, Castro would be the leader you want, and the special unit would probably best be some variation on the cruise missile.

Again, I discourage any use of post-commie Cuba in this because people usually have a very messed up perception of Cuba. That is to say, they see Cuba only after the Soviet-funded invasion of it, not the commercial center it was before. But hey, tiny, remote country. I don't expect people to know this ****.

Anyway, hurry! I wanna play this civ, even if I do have to play as an evil bastard.

post-commie, Comandante is what you'd want.

'tis the mother of all bumps!

The Fidel leaderhead can't be downloaded from Civfanatics, as the link was to a site long abandoned. However, if you go to www.civ3files.com, you'll be able to download it there.
