The Dual Alliance

Got the email. :)

Give me monarchy, I beg of thou, o mighty ruler of the the Spanish. What other techs do you have, hidden up thee silken sleeves...? :)

OK then, I'll finish off the Aztecs (soon I hope), and then come south in force to help you. :) As a neutral party whose units somehow got in the way of Babylonian (if it still exists) or other reinforcements... :crazyeye: :)

I just hope the Carthaginians don't join in the fun.

Celts - Turn 67

More vet warriors being raised. 4 cities on war-prod-mode. Iron to be linked in 3 turns. Third galley to join transport fleet soon.

Two settlers on the way to found new settlements. Nothing urgent, just to claim land.

Game emailed. :) I don't expect problems with this email....

Celts - Turn 83

The Aztec empire waned as the days passed by. :D

Game emailed.

Celts - Turn 84

Aztecs attempted some feeble counter-attks; didn't kill anyone but had to retreat for the time being to heal. Plus they elitized (:)) two of my swords. Hope to get a GL to build my FP on this island. :)

Up north, a smaller stack of 4 swords (1 elite) moved westwards to take out a smaller city; no Aztec unit being seen for awhile.

Ferried in a few reinforcement units. Typical stuff... Shld have 11 swords and 4 spears to operate around that southernmost city next turn.

Back home, begin to build improvements. Figure got enough forces to take out the remaining Aztec cities. Still got 2 cities to build swords though.

Game emailed. ;)

Celts - Turn 104

Founded Ratae Coritanorum. Rushed FP using GL generated during an earlier attack on the Aztec capital. Defended by two spears and one pike.

Science reset back to zero.

Sent 500 gold to help our Spanish allies. :)

Game will be emailed.

The Aztec War

After the third or fourth attempt to smite the Aztec capital, we finally gave up after suffering horrendous losses (up to 6-7 swords) in the last attack (that damn city was sized 7). The geography got in our way, disrupting our speedy demonic swordsmen.

In the course of the attacks on the enemy capital, a great Celtic leader was forged in the fires of righteous war.

Fortunately, a side-force of only 4 swords managed to mow down the Aztecs along the western coast and captured Tlaxcala and Calixtlahuaca. Our strategists now advised to wait for Teotihuacan to expand its borders before reattempting another attack.

The Aztecs lacked iron and their horse tile could be easily pillaged. Only two viable cities remained. One could almost feel pity for them.... :mischief:

We await the Second Aztec War with great anticipation. :D

But for now, the spotlight falls on our Spanish allies to the south who are about to engage in a war of survival with the evil Carthaginian empire, who even once dared to extort the mighty Empire of the Celts. :)

Celts - Turn 107

Our southern frontier with the Aztecs. The remnants of the Aztec army are slowly filtering back to their side of the border.

Note the helpful Aztec worker building a road for us. :)

Celts - Turn 111

My only source of saltpetre - outside Tlacopan. :( At least, the Aztecs don't have any... :p

Nothing much else to say; Leo's in 4 and SC in 11 but I think the AI will beat me to one of these at least. Which one to go for? :hmm: Opinions?

Once we got astronomy, pls remember to export horses and saltpetre (if any) to me... :)

Game emailed.

Celts - Turn 112

Darn. Darn, darn, darn.

OTOH, saltpetre outside Verulamium. :) To be connected in 3 turns.

Upgraded a few spears to pikes. Cheap to rush city improvements and upgrade units.... :hmm:

Game will be emailed.

Celts - Turn 116

Thanks for the techs. :) Researching music theory in 6 turns. Going to prebuild Bach's next turn (forgot to this turn...). After that, will go for astronomy.

Peace with Aztecs - 5-6 turns remaining....

Going to load up 2 muskets soon to send to the Continent as military observors (and accidental path-blockers...). Soon.

Game will be emailed. ;)

Turn 116 - Spain:

The Spanish Ambassadors were dispatched to Babylon to negotiate a right of passage for Spanish troops. King donsig had decided such an agreement would be necessary in order to counter Carthaginian aggression. Hammurabi flatly refused to enter into the agreement muttering something about Spain's 'unprovoked attack' on Arabia.
When the King rec'd word of this he silently vowed to make Hammurabi pay for his insolence one day. Outwardly the king put Spain on a complete war footing while at the same time dispatching his ambassadors on to Carthage.
Hannibal proved a bit easier to deal with than Hammurabi. While Spain could not force any new concessions in the peace treaty, the King's ownership of Cirtas in perpetuity was guaranteed by the Carthaginians. Once the treaty was signed the ambassadors opened trade negotiations and were able to buy astronomy in exchange for a printing press, 280g and contact with the Aztecs.
Unfortunately, most countries are dirt poor and have nothing to trade! The King did send the secrets of astronomy, horses and two luxuries over to the Celts. :)

Er, it shld be Queen donsig. Forgot to change the title while setting up the PBEM.... :crazyeye: :p :)

Remember to pass me astronomy. :) Then I can export luxuries to you. And I need horses!

Edit : Oh, saw your last line. Didn't quite see it; sleepy. Want to play a few turns tonight?
