I was wondering if the stratagy that the enemy civs use are the same for each of them like are mongals alway expancanest or are the french always perfectionest or millertristic

i mean for each civ is it always the same or dose it change

I think they are basically the same. I know for a fact that in civ1, the decisions the AI's make are based on formulas. Included in that formula is an aggresiveness variable and some other variables like that so that they seem to act different but it's all the same program... I'm sure it's the same in civ2 and in fact _all_ strategy games. It would be a waste of time to write completely different AI's for each civ...

Actually i've found that Aggressive Civs tend to expand more than other civs. So the Mongols would expand more than the French. I've seen it on well every occationw

Yes, Sun Tzu, but it's all the same formula.... Like the civilization will ask itself "Should I build some settlers to colonize over there?" and it calculates this formula which includes, among other things, how aggressive it is supposed to be.

yes, it is based on a formula. they have them at some civ sites.

Discussing AI strategy is like discussing the bad news bears strategy (anyone remember that one!

)! The AI comes in three variations:dumb, dumber and dumbest.

The funny thing is that in most video games the AI's are very, very stupid. They always get by somehow. In RTS, their ability to think on their feet makes them better than humans, and by adjusting this speed the designers can produce different difficulties. In civ1, the computer plays at Warlord level (I think, it might be prince...) because it is so stupid. On cheiftan, it is handicapped (takes longer to build stuff, more food for cities to grow, etc), and on the higher levels it cheats (units cost less, easier to make cities grow, etc). There are other less significant cheats as well, but I won't discuss them here. The point is that there is usually one and only AI for an entire game, regardless of which player the AI will be and what difficulty you are playing. A really well-designed AI should, without cheating or any special advantages, be better than the human. It should require handicaps to bring it down to easy levels, not the other way around like in civ...

The most aggressive thing the AI can do is build settlers and found new cities.

On the huge maps, the AI NEVER expands out beyond a certain level, even if its rich and surrounded by good, empty space.

This needs fixing.

supposedly, though, there are AI modifiers that affect each civ and the leaders reaction to the human player. there are "expansionist" characteristics, but each civ that is "expansionist" would react in a similar way. And I've seen that the computer will not build a number of cities beyond a certain point, too. (of course, I've also seen the computer have irrigation around a city when there is no water/rivier for 20 squares, so go figure).

Maybe it is posted somewhere before :
The AI is kind of super-silly with every
civ on every level (so it really doesnt matter which comp civs you meet ). But fortunately they showed us with SMAC how
to solve the AI much better .

To answer the questions , yes some civs are
always sillier than others . Like romans
or english are not as dumb as the others for example .

But Vanilla's question was
I was wondering if the stratagy that the enemy civs use are the same for each of them like are mongals alway expancanest or are the french always perfectionest or millertristic

The Answer to vanilla's question is; each civ has its on personallity. The Mongols are aggressive expansionists(or somethign around there) and the english are Civilized Perfectionist. They never change their status they're always like that and it shows. Mongols and Indians are the most aggressive in the game. Because that's their civs trait(i don't know why the indians tho..?) I think that all of the civs whose color is purple are very aggressive.
