untill now there are no more than 3 very great civs that made it since man conquered earth.
1. the eternal chinese with its empire of the midle
they did and they will give direction on how and where our planet is going to.

2. the militaristic romans brought us the eternal military doctrine and superior european nations, they made the way for european world rule (crusades, colonialism, isdustrialism ect.) they brought us the first new world order.

3 the english with its british empire is the 3 most emportant civ in man s history. they brought us the new democracy, they did the first step of globalism and with the british way of seeing the world they has been able to develop industrial revolution. the wealth of the 1. world is based on the british empire. if u see it from the capitalistic point of view. the former british colonies (USA, Kanada, India, Australia, RSA and Nigeria ) are the most important post-colonial countries in the world. G7= 1. USA, 2. Japan, 3.Germany, 4. Britain, 5. France, 6. Italy, 7. Canada (3 of 7 are related to the anglo-domain)

personaly i play only the english civ since civ1 and i think they should not have a better frigate but a better ironclad or destroyer, i also think they are theological and industrial

I admit that the English has one of the strongest history. They did many genocide big time and destroyed alot of peaceful civilizations.

Are they the strongest?

For an unknown reason, it looks like the English(almost the americans) are the only one that do not speak more than one language. Is it a sign of inferiority?

Being the stronger rather means that you are the more cruel. It is the basis of all empires.

Your analysis is too week, how do you explain the Russians, the spanish in latin america and so on?

If the English were the stronger, it doesn't mean they were the only one among all others. There is so many civilizations in this world, the diversity is beautiful and everyone has something where they are the best at.

French, Danish, Dutch, Deutch, Finnish, Swedish, Spanish, Russians, Greek, Arabs, Zulus, Indians, aboriginals of americas and so on... name it! They all have something particular that make them beautiful and interesting to discover. The English hasn't destroyed them yet and they are not about to do so.

We don't have the same values my friend. For you, the greatest nation might be the strongest, for someone else, this value rather means worse civilization. Because it seeks to destroy the others.

Civ III is reflecting what happened in the history. How do you define a winner? Killing everyone or having the best culture? Civ III is just a game. The real life isn't a game.

"untill now there are no more than 3 very great civs that made it since man conquered earth"

It must be weird for an outlander to observe us destroying each other, looking for being the king of the mountain (earth). For what? Different colors of the skin? Different languages? we are the same humans after all?

Civ is just a game my friend, a simple game. A funny one but, it still just a game.

as u see my status is to speak for people like u above

what u said is very right, it is my duty as speaker of the free tribes to say this things u said. I welcome u in my heart.
in fact i chose this 3 civs not couse they where the stronges but also couse of there deeds for mother earth. live within the kapitalism isnt easy i know well.
very special thanks for ur replies u2

i allways like to celebrate a pipe/blunt session with mighty friedly leaders speaking bout the awsome girls walking by the palace gardens. so i greet good old london town, i greet the fabrik, the thyssen st. studios, the camden palace and i greet tottenham, turnpike lane especially.
this goes out for the jungle/rasta faction worlwide

ah man, i thought i was the only one to dig turnpike lane.... this could be the start of a beautiful friendship. big up to the wood green massif!! bo selecta.

Personally, I don't see England as something comparable to India or China. Do you think there's the same difference between a brit and a chinese than between a brit and a german? Who are the guys that get drunk with beer in front of the last Champion's league game on TV?

To me, Europeans are a lot more similar than they ever admitted. All european countries always wanted to be better than their neighbours so they had to be different of course but that's mainly artificial differences. Sincerly, when you look general politic and economic behaviour on today, Europe including the UK doesn't have the same vision as the USA for example.

Personally, I'm french, and I seriously don't consider quebeckers, belgians, algerians or cameroonese as french people, not even as french descendant ! It looks awfully colonialist to think the opposit.
English people never even succeed to unified the people of their own lil island. Why 4 national soccer teams if what I'm saying is wrong?
I'm not trying to reduce the achievement of Britain, I just think what has been said looks like an old-fashioned victorian point of view.

So you asked the question of which civilization has been the most influent in the world ? Well, let say european civilization....
... but History isn't over.

i call u up when i touch down at stanstead next time......

europe will only be a great civ/culture if they reduce there influence and share wealth much more then they do now. history isnt over yet, right but even if the brits are just a part of the european commonwealth they will be more powerfull then for example the soon fallen USA. the brits did see the times changing and released all of there colonies without war, no other colonial power did this..........
but anyway, till now the english together with the welsh and scots are among the 3-4 nations that has the most influince on mankind.
even if all changes in future it changes up from a british created world order. so no mather what comes, its for some way, based on the global capitalism. it is still posible that a british cosmonaut will be the first man on moon.......

share love, share music, share weed, **** off wealth

and the english should be theological + industrial +modified destroyer as spacial unit or maybe a special diplomat/spy (balance of power politics/its secret service is still the best in the worl)
dont forget iam german!!

As an American I like that part about the Brits releasing their colonies without war.

Blackdragon: I dont think the US is going anywhere anytime soon... have you hear the expression "All Empires must Rise and Fall?", we'll the United States is not an empire... so dont get your hopes up that we must fall...

Im not naive, power shifts will occur over time, and eventually there will be other superpowers and US influnence may fall.. but its not going to be like the collapose of the european empires after WWII as you might hope.. nor will this shift happen in the immediate future...

As for a strong EU.. Im all for it.. I'd be happy to let you guys take care of your own messes instead of dragging us into some European conflict every few decades to help get rid of some crazy dictator who wants to wipe out his fellow europeans..

Cut that out :p

----cut here--------------------snip line-------------------scissors go here----:D

And don't turn this into a raging political debate. That's for the off-topic. You want to discuss the English? Great, the Man-o-War is bloody useless! Ironclads replace it 30 seconds after the first one rolls of the docks...

And Elizabeth is a mouthy little thing! 'The terrorist state of...' yeah, cram it!

this is bout nothing but the english civ.

1. the fights of 1779-1812 where fights beetwen the frensh and british empire, the red indians fought for the redcoats, the troops of washington fought for the bluecoats, as the Frensh and Eastcoasters won @ somewhere near washingtonDC the USA got there independence. This was mostly a frensh victory.

2. As the english design and developed the best armored sea units from 1800 - 1920 they need to get a special ironclad able to sunk a destroyer (Dragnrought)??? called something like this....

3. USA lose influence and markets to the EU and China, this is a mather of fact. the problem is i think that if some countries see the US weak they will attack them, there is so mush hate bout the USA in this world that when the USA need to size down military power couse less money couse less production couse less markets there is a huge chance that they will be attacked by Japan, China, any south american country, islamic brigades or even russian special commands. there is also a chance of a agressive commercial regime take over power in USA and that they starts war bout anything

thats just my point of view (we still want revenge for 45 ) : )

MOD: Yes, that's great. See my last post...and know that you've been listed :p Once more and it's vacation time.

playing as the english has put me off the hole UU concept - i was landlocked, so why were my people master warship designers? in real life, the english were not destined to become great ship designers, its just that they live on an island!

I think the best fit for the English would be industrious and commercial. The industrial revolution started in Britain, so industrious is obvious.

Commercial is more accurate than expansionistic because the foundation of the British Empire was trade, and the most important colony (India) was colonised by the British East India Company, a trading concern, not any imperial ambitions.

dont ask me why ur people are the best warship designers, in fact they are, maybe couse u live on a island........
its a mather of fact that the RN is up to build the first and only stealth cruiser in the world..........
in CIV i love to start on a island so if i play a worldmap i play the brits or sometimes the japs but i also take the brits when starting on a continent.

So the USA is going down soon? Where' the party, I want to see this...

I have always been a romanticist sailor--even when I was a real sailor. I choose England for that past -- and perhaps future -- glory of the sea, and I intend to rule the seas in this game.

Knowing that me ships of the line (Man-of-war) would be obselete by steam power before I could get one out of drydock, I upped its specs before I started. Ironclads are no threat, and we will see how the destroyer measures up. I thought seriously about making it into a battle ship, but it would unbalance the era it was born in. As it turns out, there is no competition on the sea, so it would not have mattered.:king:

I think the entire naval game-play is poor. The uselessness of the Man-O-War is only a reflection of the uselessness of the frigate. However, when not playing as the English, one of my AEGIS cruisers was sunk by a Man-O-War , which is even worse!

Another problem is that, as far as I can tell, naval units can´t blockade trade in any way, which reduces their usefulness and is unrealistic. The outcome of the 1914-18 war would have been very different, for instance, without the British naval blockade, which starved hundreds of thousands of civilians to death, ultimately leading to internal collapse within the Central Powers, and also indirectly brought America into the war (in response to the retaliatory attacks on British-American trade).
