Does anybody know if they are going to fix it or at least provide an alternative?

whats the f4 screen again? is it the foriegn advisor?

I guess "nothing to fix" is a matter of opinion......

Sure it works, just not very well when there are more than 8 civs.

I agree. ;)

I wish the designers had known enough in advance that it was to be playable with more than 8 Civs at once. As it was, they managed, in a relatively short time, to come up with a method that allowed it to be played. It is NOT ideal, but it *does* work.

(And if I had $50000 laying around, I would be glad to spend it on programming/art support for it. But I'm as broke as the next guy, so I let the developers decide where to spend their limited resources. Still, it *would* be nice. :) )

Uhh, you do know you can push shift+d and out comes a list of all the nations u know and if you are at war or peace with them? i mean this if you are using the f4 screen to contact someone.

Other then that (to check what nations are at war), they do need to make it better.

Humans are very good at visualizing and pattern recognization so here's an idea:

Make the foreign advisor screen a self-organizing map.

The leader images would be reduced in size perhaps to a half of what they are now and then the main point: their position would NOT be fixed. Instead as the game progresses their position wanders depending on their attitudes and diplomatic relationships to other civs. A furious attitude or being at war would be a repulsive force whereas gracious and MPP would be an attraction.

The result will be that civs "close" together in diplomatic terms would tend to be drawn together in the screen presentation whereas enemies would eventually end up further apart. A human looking at such a picture would see at a glance the entire diplomatic situation. For further help you could still toggle the line indicators of actual wars and treaties.
