I come before the citizenry of Fanatika today for a simple request: the creation of Fanatika's first National Parks. As the leader of the Elves of Fanatika, I wish to create these parks for the good of all citizens of Fanatika, and also for the indiginous Elven population. I ask that one park be created in the woods of my own fair province, Eldarinórë, its location as shown in the following map.

Also, I ask that another park be created in the Gem Mountains of Montis Abeo Gramen, as shown in this map.

This proposal would require the approval of the as-yet to be appointed Governor of Montis Abeo Gramen. Thank you for your polite attention to my proposal. Now, any question or comments?

PS: The maps will be up whenever the upload server starts working. For reference for now, NP #1 will be in the Aldar Nin between New Shanghai and Madras, and NP #2 will be in the Gem Mountains.

The maps aren't there.

Still, unless the parks fell outside city radii, or in some area that will never need the disallowed improvments, I'd be against national parks in this game. They were created in a simpler time, in a monarch game were we could actually afford the loss of productivity national parks cause.

I kind of agree with Octavian here. I was frightened when I saw that a game tile next to Naerva could qualify as a national park -> the loss of output from the tile would be horrible. I reckon every official in Fanatika will agree that we need the current production capacity to be increased, not decreased.

err...I cannot see any maps either :)

I am, as I have always been, utterly opposed to the creation of any national parks whatsoever. They are a criminal waste of the terrain's potential and as such have no place in a game played at this level.

Look at my Spice Forest park. That tile will NEVER be used - EVER.

I see no problem with parks in some of the newer territories. Those cities are never going to be in a position to really use tile improvements anyway. There's a lot of area in the Gem Mountains that will never be usable simply because there is so much mountain the cities there will never grow large enough to use them. A well planned park taking the nearby city regions into account should be fine. (Can't see if the current proposals do this until I can see them. ;) )
