the game runs soooo slowww

hi, i started a game in the "Total Realism Earth Map" mode.
i'm now at the 304th turn (I have just started the Renaissance area) and it takes me more than 10 min to pass the turn.
i have 514MB of RAM
pentium 4 cpu (2.4Ghz)
and Nvidia GEforce 6600GT

what sould I do to make this game playable?
