I am curious on what people think about the Google Search feature of the forums :).

IMO, I beleve it is a better alternative to the forum's search feature. :)

i hate it!!! :( you can't limit the search as much as you could with the old way

I have learned from computer class that you can use tags like "Dreadnought +Smoking Mirror" to help narrow down your search.

I haven't used it yet since I rarely use search anyway but I assume that the actuall forum search would be better if it was enabled...

Of course the forum's own search is better. It's more up-to-date for one thing.

But when forum search is not available, Google search is a fine alternative. :)

but i can't say (at least with ease) find all posts by thunderfall in the civ4 suggestions forum with at least 3 replies and not more than a month old and show the results as posts

with the old function i could

now i know what your goingto say, well why would i want to? lets say i want to edit the post i recently made in civ4 in regards to TF's idea on inter-alien trade of civ luxury resources (hey the martians need to be happy too don't they ;) )becaus i have given it some thought and decided to change my ind about what i though this search function would be a lot easier to find my post

It's certainly not nearly as useful as the site search, but it's better than nothing. :)

I don't like it. Being a newbie to the game, I've been able to avoid starting useless posts that clutter the forum because they have already been answered. It's good for me because I get my answer right away without having to wait for responses.

I could already do site searches with google, so personally the new search does nothing for me. The results are out of date, and the terms I look for are so common that they turn up way too many results in irrelevant posts. Before I could limit it to only search titles. I can still limit to search titles only on yahoo, but don't know how to do it on google. Anyone know?

Hmm, a newb who isn't starting new threads without checking first. Thats rare. :hmm:

Its not as if non newbie posters don't start threads without checking either...
