Wow, we’re crossing the finish line of the liberalism race already? But we just started….

Hmm, and what is with this 5% chance for an artist to pop non-sense? Nonsense!

But the question to be asked, is now what?

What free tech would you choose at this point? Military options (if any?).
I still have to found or capture a 6’th city somewhere. And looking at the map, Brennus seems to be the biggest nation right now. A big aggressive leader next to me, hmm….

Notes: Room for one more population point. Total of 4 Trade-routes. And 3 turns at this rate for the next GP, which SHOULD be a prophet more than 50% of the time (barely).

End of Part I...

Part II

And the tension mounts, what tech to chose, what tech to chose!

1030
Well, I decided to go after Nationalism. The second best choice would have been Printing Press, as I could have a shot here at the SoL and still use it for other things on my way to Physics. But for now, I may be lucky to get the Taj-Mall; it is certainly worth the gamble here. It is also the most expensive tech on the list. The thing I don’t like in the BTS tech structure is that civs always get to beeline this without liberalism now. But that’s a double sided edge, because it means the AI loves to go up really terrible and weird paths now also.

* And, we are suddenly at 2 Million Souls.

1030.jpg

Note: I really hate the gunpowder tech. Muskets? Ughhh, longbows are still better. LOL.

G Scientist pops.

And Brennus decides to declare war on the Holy Roman Empire again, but this time on his own. Looks like we really set them up good, since it’s not even a religious war now.

Let me explain… I beelined toward the Statue of Liberty. I also switched to confucasionism temporarily for the OR boost, but unfortunately, the Romans seem to have GE rushed the statue on us, and we were to fail overcoming that. At least we get 610 gold to crank up the deficit teching again.

Time to settle on Ice…

Yes, I know what you’re thinking. So…. Who in god’s name would settle in a patch of ice in an immortal game if he is serous about winning?

Well, I don’t have much choice here do I? I can’t help what the generator gives me, and if it dealt me a lot of ice & tundra here, then that’s what we’ll just have to deal with. Now, at least if we had a river on the ice we could build a water-wheel, but nope, it’s just an ice-rink.

It’s not a power city I’m going to make, I just need to get to my magic number for now. But at least we are on an ocean-side here, so it is possible to get some growth into this igloo city. And if I don’t settle here it, I’d put it right smack dam in the middle of those beavers by that ice-lake instead.

(Yes, I am totally serious).

BTW, I what made me really settle here, is I found a fish source that is in reach of this location. And the iron that poped up on the hill also weighted in.

We meet Washington on the other continent. He doesn’t seem to be that strong, I guess that’s good?

Oh ya, I’m so stupid I misclicked and gave him a big tech for nothing. I should have tried to get a world map from him at least!

This was probably a sign I needed some sleep at that point. At least we got +4 for trade relations!
-ni

We also meet Bismark now, the final piece in the diplo-puzzle. Strange, both of them are at the bottom of the ranked list.

Anyhow, good thing I sent a boat out to find the two of them, or who knows how long it would have taken for us to stumble into each other.

Broadway is about to come online…

· Also, I traded electricity to Mansu now, (as he cant use it to steal the broadway on me anymore). In exchange I get Steel. Looks like a bad bargain, but I need the IW. The sooner the better cause I have more wonders to whip through coming up very soon.

Interestingly enough, I also got him to adopt OR. That’s a FIRST! I never seem to get them to change civics, but looks like there is always something new to do each game. I’m doing this so that I can get him out of FR, and hopefully cause more religious wars. Then again, it could bite me in the ass if we end up in a building war with his 25% edge ontop of his immortal edge, but I think I’m too far ahead for it to matter now.

We steal MT from Brennus, with a fortified spy. I want this because I am thinking on possibly building tons of cavalry and then backstabbing Brennus in the near future. Also, we’ve been stockpiling some other units, like air-ships and knights. I plan to upgrade the knights to cavalry (and use some just as high-movement medics) for my stacks.

We don’t have to go to war at all, but it will open us up some more options and safety nets down the road.

Alright, we discover computers. This means, the Internet is our prime project now. And a shot from last turn shows this:

1880.jpg

Since no one else had computers yet, it seems we’ll win this project race pretty much guaranteed. I’m really looking forward now to gear up and smash someone, or a few civs right after. So…. Get that project up, and keep cranking out units.

1890
And we are set, the internet!…

Spoiler :
1890.jpg

1892
GE pops.
And…

War has begun! We smash into Brennus’ borders at two pin-points. In this shot, a stockpile of tanks just burst through. I put spies in there and was going to drop defenses, but a bug in the patch (bugs in patches, how does that happen!?) removed my spies when I declared war! Oh well, just use the tanks anyway and bust up his defending riflemen/grenadiers.

Over in the west/south, we move down with a ton of cavalry, and a few other tanks, and attempt to take his capital there and other cities. The AI sucks at multiple-front attacks, and here we’ll just roll over him easy.

1892.jpg

Note: Yes, I know this was A TERRIBLY POOR CITY. Population 1??? But we’ll make it into a better city once we take control of it. Obviously, the AI sucks at city management about as bad as it sucks at war.

Second Note: Have one military city keep making anti-tank men. Yes, these guys really do suck. Their strength is poor, even vs the unit they are specialized against. And with no tanks by Brennus you may ask what the point is. Well, when I crank them out here, I upgrade them to CGII. Use them to guard cities in the back ranks, which is sufficient enough vs Brennus here. The real big benefit form them comes later…

That happens when mechanized infantry are unlocked. I’ll then upgrade all these CGII units which come with Ambush promotion. This turns them into mechanized infantry with:
CG I
CG II
Ambush (come free with Anti-Tank)
March (comes free with MI upgrade)

A very powerful defender for all occasions. Please note, that the ambush for Mechanized infantry can only NORMALLY come after Combat I & II, requiring three promotions, which also sadly remove our chance for the strong CG path.

Later on in the game, feel free to whip-draft units in these cities, then leave the new units there while moving these specialized units up to the front of the ranks.

A GG arrives. Can you imagine that?!

And just to spare you all the details and shots. Let’s sum up some things again…

ATTACK!! ATTACK!! ATTACK!!
ATTACK!! ATTACK!! ATTACK!!
ATTACK!! ATTACK!! ATTACK!!

Some Celtic people showed our wounded some compassion. We are asked if we want to stop the war?

Hell NO!
-ni

1907
It is over. It is done. We have completely wiped out Brennus from the face of the map. And now we are ranking as #1 in the world, with Bismark in second.

Eeeek! He went from last to second just like that!
-ni

1917
Alright, and now we pick on Mansu. Busting through his territories with tanks. He’s the next in line, so what can he do about it? Nothing!

BTW, I’m not spending a cent on science anymore either. Just stockpiling it all up, and focusing on warmongering for now. Feel free to crank up the spy/culture sliders.

Note. Don’t be afraid. Mansu is NOT the techmaster that you see people crying about on the forums. He’s just a little bit better than so-so. In the meantime, we’re due to get refrigeration in 10 turns, even without any science funding, but we couldn’t care less anyhow. We’re guaranteed to get it one way or another through the internet. Just depends on how it comes in first.

Well, we capture the UN building from Mansu, which is amusing. We built it till the last turn, and then removed it from our que to get a bunch of extra cash. And since we captured it anyway now, that means we got a double-whamy. Both GOLD for building it, and then the building itself for capturing it!

Unfortunately, it really isn’t a useful wonder to us anyway, except for a few rare cases.

Anyhow, we also sue for peace here. Not that we have to, but I just captured a big city light, and I want to hold it, so trick Mansu into peace right now, so we can hold it, bring more fresh troops in, and then hit him in 10 turns from now again.

What a stupid AI, and he falls for the oldest trick in the book!!!

Ok, time to re-declare war again.

And another GG arrives.

Note: Some bad luck. We are getting hit by tactical nukes, and for some reason, our SDI refuses to block any O_o.

We have a chance to make the space elevator, so we do it. Unfortunately I can’t make it in my capital because of the damn position requirements (could never figure out how that works). So instead, I’m building it in another city. It’s going very fast but, just incase some other civilization beats us to it, what the hell. I have 30 thousand gold on me at this time, and plenty more gold coming so let’s just rush it to complete it here. This’ll give our spies much bigger bangs for their buck later on.

Note: Whoops! What’s that cottage doing in the scene? I guarantee you I never built one all game. Oh that’s right, it’s from Brennus’ capital. Well, from what used to be his capital. Maybe if he had focused on more useful improvements, he’d still be around at this time.

We have a little problem. The Holy Romans let Mansu become their vassal when I last made peace with him. So now, I’ll have to fight against both of them. Oh well. We were stocking cash weren’t we? And now, lets see what a ton of cash does to a ton of tanks.

Turn previous to this we ended up with this screen:

MA.JPG

Boom!.. and instantly a gigantic army of modern armour from old tanks, all in 1 turn. So now….

We go against both of them and….

ATTACK… ATTACK… ATTACK!!
ATTACK… ATTACK… ATTACK!!
ATTACK… ATTACK… ATTACK!!

1981.jpg

And we gain…

Scotland Yard (I love capturing these)
The Hagia Sophia (ummm okay)
Mining Inc (Sure… I’ll take it).
4 GGs
1 GE
1 GP (The AI must be slowly learning from me)

Spoiler :
1981i.jpg

Notes; and perhaps I should have checked the relations meter first. Because now I have Musa, Charlie, Bismark, AND the Americans at war with me. That’s everyone except for the Romans. Just friggen great!

All I need now is the Romans to dogpile in on me as well. Then I’ll have the entire world of the immortal AI’s after me. Oh well, time to watch the coasts (Don’t lose the capital at all costs!) and get ready for a hell of a lot of bloodshed. Use the advantage of terrain and tactics against the AI’s overwhelming numbers. This is going to be rough, and painful, but… try to grind them all down. You MUST get some sort of advantage here.

Note:: This may be a terrible time to bring even more bad news but…
We are getting hit again by tactical nukes. Now both Masnu AND the Romans are nuking us… (more will soon too). And our SDI isn’t working well at all, we only intercepted one. Crazy…

1989
GG Arrives.
And look, some more booty.

The Temple of S. +29g
The Dai Miao +16g
Military Academy

2 GA’s (Ummmmmmm….)

Note:

Bismark decides to make peace, after giving me some gold per turn, etc. Maybe he should have thought of that BEFORE declaring war on me???

Also, Bismark ended up dropping nuke arsenals on us too from the sea (I think it was him anyway). He hit one of my military production cities, and devastated it. Even the precious trees around I had set up for the National Park around it got blown away (yes nukes remove forests too). Which sadly hurts the point of having a NP!

And just to show how lopsided this was… the SDI didn’t block any of his nukes, and even though I had a bomb-shelter just incase any got through, it still didn’t do much. My other national wonder in that city (Oxford wonder) got REMOVED! Yes, it seems nukes not only can destroy all regular buildings, but also national wonders too! And I thought from my last reading of the specs that wonders weren’t allowed to be killed this way!

Spoiler :
1989.jpg

1991
I have wiped Mansu off the map.

Unfortunately, he got off a few nukes on my stacks even still. But at least that is ONE LESS nation that will be able to do so in the future. And what’s funny is, I saw one nuke in his city waiting for something, what I do not know, but I captured it and that was one less nuke to worry about.

Stupid, stupid, stupid AI…

Oh, and the funny part is, when he was able to make space ship parts, he was off doing them right down to the last. Even when I had a ton of tanks outside his last cities, he was still busy trying to complete parts that would take until sometime in the year 2000 to complete, LOL. Once again, we over-come the bonuses and power-of-numbers from the AI’s, by just letting them fight wars stupidly.
-ni

1996
Strength beats flank…

Let me says this again.

STRENGTH BEATS FLANK!

I wont say anymore about this in other forum threads, because people at monarch level have their minds made up on the matter and what I say isn’t going to change that. I’ll just let the evidence speak for itself here in this shot. Note how even barrage is definitely SUPERIOR to a weak flank. Why would you even want to add flank promos to a tank, never mind cavalry always gives me a good chuckle.

1996.jpg

More booty…

The Mahabodhi +29g
Scotland Yard
Military Academy
Civilized Jewelery +28

Note: At this point, we make peace with the Holy Romans, and decide to focus on going after the other Romans soon. We’ll turn back after 10 turns time or so, :P

Augustus should have dog-piled in on us too, he didn’t and that was a big mistake :P

Spoiler :
1996i.jpg

1997
Oh look, we are making level 5 units right out of the gate, without even the Pentagon or WestPoint buildings!

Note: I generally am not a fan of aircraft. The only 2 air units I love are Airships, and Steath Bs. Sadly I don’t get to warmonger much with the Steath’s, so I was over-joyed at this part of the game.

Ohh, I don’t know if you can count helicopters as air-units. Actually, my whole cavalry stacks from Brenus’ time, were later then upgraded (whatever was left from then and early Mansu wars) to copters. I didn’t have that many around at this point, but I assure you, those units who started out originally as knights sure got their kills before they finally hit the dust.
