The Great Units Table

Hello everyone, I decided to put together a Open Office giga table with all the datas from all the units, and make some macros to work with them. Let's say, select two units to compare the status, etc. So I wanted to ask if there isn't something like that already, so I wouldn't do a double job. And if not, if people are interested and what would you be interested to have.

I have it all in Excel in my sig (link "Unit & Civ Reference Charts"), so you can start with that if you would like to.

It is just raw data, compiled to look a bit presentable. No nifty comparisons or anything like you propose.

I would much prefer Open Office formats.

Calc and Excel use different languages for their macros. Excel macros will not work in Open Office Calc (although you can still open and view the spreadsheet) and vice versa. However, anyone can get Open Office for free.

Well, this is JUST a spreadsheet, and I included that with the PDF so that people like you could grab what I started with and take it further for themselves or the community. I personally just picked it up as an extension of Grey Fox's PDF (intended just to hand it to him to add to his PDF).

So, feel free to use my data if it is helpful, but if you are talented with Open Office you can probably just piece it all together with a macro straight out of the XML like Taels did for his online Civlopedia :)

I knew I should have asked before doing it.

Nice sheet there mate. I will use it as base and do some compare functions if you do not mind. I should have something presentable for tomorrow, I hope. But I need o know, what things people would like to have?

I have Calc and will work with it. I hope its exporter can convert the macros too for Excel

I am not sure if it works in that direction. I do know that the only way to use an Excel file with macros in Open Office is a complete rewrite.

Xien: Excel spreadsheets like yours are just fine. It was Yohan's intention to use macros that push me to push Open Office.

Don't know if I am going to wind up doing too much more with my spreadsheet, so do as you will with it :) If you use buildings make sure to change the Smuggler's port to reflect the new patch J changes, but all the rest should be fine up to current.

I might eventually add in a promotion tree or the Lightbulbing orders, but as for units all the work is long done and unlikely to change except to update with patches.
