The Civ 7 Victory Screen Is My Biggest Frustration

Even funnier when a volcano happens to erupt on your victory turn. The game seems to think showing that volcano erupt is more important than showing your rocket go up.

And I've had other bugginess too with victory scene not even showing or showing the wrong one.

Just give us a damn hall of fame. I've resoerted to making my own in a Google doc... But the game doesn't even let you see the scores, etc. and if you lose it doesn't say why or to who - so baffling. And while we're here, give us a countdown if someone's close to winning.
I finished a long campaign yesterday with a surprise defeat at the hands of Trung Trac who was by no means a leader in the first two ages but somehow snuck to a science victory in Modern. Kind of a confusing, unsatisfactory outcome.

Happy to see the AI putting up a fight, but her success was strange, unexplained, and unanticipated.

And to bring it back to the subject of this thread, a “defeat” end screen without any context feels pretty hollow.

I'm sure you can tell who won...it shows the legend path or whatever it's called at the end. I just lost my first game and I clearly saw that I lost to Augustus in a world fair victory.

Victory stat screens and Hall of Fame tracking, firaxis will add them eventually with a steam blog post about how they listen to the community, when these were just common sense additions that shouldn't have been missed.

If I recall correctly, graphs are coded into the game but commented out because they don't work properly (yet?). But Modern civs not having unique victory screens unlike all the others makes them feel even more of an afterthought than they already do. Get Gwendoline back in the studio!

FYI, the modern civs do have unique victory screens, but you only see them if you win a score victory. So it is highly unlikely that you will see them if you are playing on a high difficulty level or with long ages, where someone will win before time runs out.

I think score victory is the most reasonable victory type for this game overall, so I'm now especially wishing we could turn off other victory types, like in previous games...

Without other victory conditions, it's too easy to get equal results on score victory as it is now, especially in multiplayer

A trend that started long before Civ7, though.
Apparently there was a survey which found that most players didn't watch these movies more than once. Therefore, their creation was deemed cost-ineffective and the time/money better spent on other things.

Personally, I couldn't agree with this decision. I, too, enjoyed leaning back after a successful game and watching the final victory movie in full length. This went so far that I ended up re-cutting Civ5's generic victory movie with all available footage (and a new soundtrack for each) to create a proper themed movie for each victory type. (They turned out quite well and the back-leaning felt even more deserved. ;) )

I just want to see some stats. If doing the map animation is too much work let's just see units produced, units lost, units killed. Turns per era. Victory points. Oh man how cool would it be if it showed stats like this and you could compare against other players for the day, week, month, and lifetime? It just doesn't seem like much work to do

Civ people are people who like data. Even more we like charts and graphs! Movies are cool but let's see the data.

Yes, I want to see the stats.

Civ7 has a unique opportunity to present these data, by era/age! Wonders built in Antiquity, Exploration, Modern. Units killed in each age. Settlements founded, conquered, and lost. History is built in layers! Sit back and remember, "oh yeah, I did a lot of building in Exploration. I just finished a lot of fighting." By the time I get to a victory in Modern, my session when I finished Antiquity is probably 2 days or more in the past. Seeing which civs I chose, which unique buildings or quarters I built, would be great. Even a lowly line graph or area chart for when I exceeded my settlement limit, and by how much, over the course of an era.

Still hoping for the Civ3-style animated minimap, walking me through each age...

I'd be very surprised if we didn't get a victory stats page eventually (hoping for tomorrow!), but I wonder if we'll get ones inbetween ages too. Although you can see your rankings in legacy paths to vaguely gauge how well you're doing relative to other civs, it'd be useful (and just fun) to see the stats of your current age.

Integration with global data would be very cool too, perhaps also as an extra line on each graph that shows the global average for the civ you've played as.

It still makes the game appear incomplete. It needs to be fixed. And even if hardcore players don't watch these, it would appeal to casual fans, which is what they need right now.

I did a double-take to see if I had written this post! I wrote something very similar many weeks ago. I actually enjoy the game more without the instant victories. It's more fun to just play the game with the intent to be the overall best than to beeline for an arbitrary win.

I've never disabled any victory types in any previous games. The games become a slog and the victories help wrap things up. Civ 7 has done away with the slog, and the victories feel too abrupt for my taste.

It's a question of priorities. If you look at the coming patch highlights, any of the issues there are much more important than providing more information on game ending screen. I believe it will be added at some point, like it was with previous versions of civilization.
