The Imperialistic Trait, Underrated?

Hmm, well at least no one put Industrius at the dead-bottom of the list, just the general bottom haha!

I think it's one that is still quite mis-understood, and I should probably write an article on it sometime to clear up some of those issues. The fact is, even if you are a pure war-monger, industrious STILL benefits you.

Show me a warmonger walkthrough, and I'll show you 100 & 1 ways it would have helped.

I just find that IND scales very strangely with level. It's my favourite trait on Immortal. However...

Below Immortal, I might prefer PHI for spamming wonders - getting them isn't too much of a problem, and I get a faster return on the investment.
On Deity, I usually have more important things to do than chasing wonders.

Yes, cheap forges are wonderful... it's an expensive building you really want early because more production causes a nice little snowball effect. Still.

hmm. i red some of your articles and i'm also a fan of WE style. even when i plan not to wonder-spam, still at least 10 wonders i build in most games :)
on monarch difficulty, i can adopt an aggressive playstyle even with WE

here's a regular game attachment by me, not one of my best games but a regular WE/monarch game

http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=185089&d=1218109162

in fact, on monarch i like adopting a WE strategy with many leaders, not only IND ones. as seen above, a half WE/CE game and 1918 space vict with Vicky/Monarch/Fractal/Large. in fact, i was also close to any victory type and had an army large enough for CON/DOM victory but chose the quicker one, space. my priority in that game was military but still i did build 20 wonders, most in London. London also build at least half of the spaceship itself.

but since i moved on to emperor, i feel i have to choose between

1) being aggressive and building wonders useful for me
2) staying in defense and wonderspamming

if i can get used to be aggressive and make war frequently while wonderspamming like i easily did on monarch, i would still gladly do it.

by the way, on continents maps everything is easier for me but i don't like it. i like harsh games with many civs on the same continent, most civs with different religions hating eachother. so WE+harsh wars all the time is hard on emperor.

i tried it with Cyrus/highlands/emperor once but failed slightly. it was just about to work but i failed during 1600s when i had a huge surprise attack by HC following attacks by Frederick, Mao and Genghis in order, all in a few 10turns, with short time difference. my army didn't have the time even to heal up. i think if i was not busy with 2/3 wonders at those turns, still i could eat all alive

yeah, i like WE with PHI much more than WE with IND. you get better benefits from wonders with PHI. WE with a pure warmonger like CYRUS is even possible, on monarch

i played a few WE Immortal games (and failed :D) and found out that wonderspamming on that level without IND is nearly impossible. so IND is more critical for wonderspammers on higher levels.

so as it is for me on emperor bec i'm not comfortable enough on emperor yet.
WE is a little bit risky about military so you have to be very comfortable on that level to play a WE game
