I'm working on a new Tech tree, which is so far up to the early Industrial era but I'm going to want every tech possible in their so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what techs to have. I'm hoping to have 100-150 techs in the Industrial eras.

Here is a tech tree I've been playing around with for my Fractured States mod.

btw, any luck trying to fix the crash in my mod?

It depends on when and where this industrial revolution takes place. There was the industrial revolution in Britain in the early 19th century, as well as two industrial revolutions later that century in America. These are the three you're probably considering. In Britain, for example, you'll want a different series of techs, including some agricultural changes which allowed for the industrial revolution to happen. Specify which revolution you're focusing on and I would be happy to get you some more information.

do you have warlords as well? Still to this day I use theLopez's tech tree editor mod for warlords, even for my BtS mod. I build in warlords, then change to BtS. You'll have to add the tags about advanced start and river (3 new tags total), but its pretty easy using notepad++

The Industrial Revolution in every area of the world! I was using the CIV III tech tree for a base and puting all it's techs with all of civ IV's, but I can use some of your techs. About your MOD I wasn't able to get it when I first said I was going to get it and see what's wrong but I'm d/ling it right now! I'm hoping to get the entire Industrial era's done that way more scenario's can be more easily focused on the Industrial wars and what nots. That's why I didn't make my American Revolutionary war yet.

ozzy, i meant I only build the tech tree in warlords. nothing else. Its easily transferable, bts only adds 3 tags to the techs. The only problem with this is it leaves out aesthetics and military science, but you can add them in. Seriously if you haven't tried the tech tree editor, you should try it... I built an entire tech tree in a few hours using it.

ps for the next release of civil war, it'll have a new tech tree, you could borrow some of its ideas, Seal.

Well, the first industrial revolution happened in Britain, starting in the late 1700's. It happened because the agriculutral revolution condensed farming land into the hands of the aristocracy. This allowed them to increase their efficiency and use less workers to achieve the same amoutn of work. This opened up labor for other pursuits - the mobility of people and wealth. You'll definetely want to include this in your tech tree, somehow accounting for an agriculutral revolution.

Then, off to the technological advancements. In 1733, John Kay invented the fly shuttle, halving the number of people required to weave. In, 1760 the spinning jenny and Richard Arkwright's water frame allowed one person to produce textiles at a machine. Eli Whitney's cotton gin in 1789 allowed one person to make as much cotton as 50 people had previously. Cotton production soared. These inventions all created the textile industry. The "big casino" would have to be the invention of the steam engine. It provided an immense amount of power and allowed for the easier exploitation of iron and coal.

Applying these to Civ4 I could see a tech for the textile machine, and another for the cotton gin. There could also be a preliminary steam engine tech which could branch off into its more developed form, such as the steam locomotive. This is where my off-hand knowledge ends. I'd recommend a quick wikipedia search, which would bring up a lot of ideas. Then you could throw them out to discussion.

Actually, now that I've started adding stuff (instead of struggling forever with just trying to remove techs) it isn't that difficult. Today I added most of the techs I've planned out so far. Now I need to get back to brain storming/organizing/making things look pretty.

But good progress is being made. And I got some good ideas, especially for military stuff, from your mod too.

Here's a screenie of my tech tree so far! Sorry about taking so long.
You can see it here because it's too big to up on CFC. Right now I only have up to the Industrial Era but It's still a WIP (Work In Progress). I'm hoping to make it modular for WoC!:goodjob:
