The Journey of a Thousand Fails Begins With a Single Deity Game

I think posting it here would be better. You would keep your thread views that we have given you :D

Also, your final update made me laugh

A lot

And hard

In a hotel lobby in public

Thank you for making me look like a weirdo :p (But a terrific and funny story :D. Please make your second one :))

Okay, my second deity game is in progress; playing the regular game now, no mods. I want to wait until I've come close to finishing (or finished entirely) before I start posting, so I don't give you guys another $#!) ending.

Also, it stars Red_Spy :D

Alright Boys and Girls, the time of waiting is over. The AAR will be posted IN ITS ENTIRETY here. I give you......

Spoiler :

For anyone wondering why it's called "The Hitchhiker", the title will make sense soon enough.

Anyway, for this game I decided on something special. Because the Congolese of page 1 were destroyed by military conquest, I felt it fitting to make conquest the only way to win. Thats right, folks. Only Conquest victory is enabled. If I'm going to lose again, I want to go out in a blaze of glory, not a popup saying "Gandhi built a spaceship and that means you civilization has been defeated somehow." Also, I'm not playing Neoteric world anymore. This AAR will be the actual BoS experience.

Spoiler :
:crazyeye::crazyeye::crazyeye::crazyeye::crazyeye::crazyeye::crazyeye:
Crazyeye Spam just for the heck of it.

PART 1: The Boring Beginning

Our journey begins, as these things always do, 4000 years before the start of the common era, or b.c. if you prefer.

Spoiler :
attachment.php

Humble beginnings.

I found myself in control of Ramses, Pharaoh of Egypt, as the promo poster might tell you. Wasting no time, the Egyptians founded their capital and quickly moved to settle another city, knowing full well that they needed another production center running as quickly as possible. Within the first few turns, our intrepid heroes came across two other civilizations, the Mali and the Zulu.

Spoiler :

Looks like the early game will be African-based civs only.

Mansa Mustache, or whatever he's called, Was my closest neighbor, with Shaka west of him. I had started on a peninsula of sorts, which meant that Mansa quickly attempted to block me in. I managed to make a few more cities before I was cut off from the world entirely. Meanwhile, my initial scout had come across a group of barbarians. Expecting to lose my scouts again:sad:, I was surprised when they actually won. I decided to give them a new name, in honor of this great victory.

Spoiler :
attachment.php

You know I'm desperate when beating a barbarian warrior is a great victory.

He Who Fights Barbs would go on to have many advantures, finding new lands, riches, and people in faraway......

Spoiler :
attachment.php

Should've seen this coming.

Oh....

Nevermind....

Spoiler :
attachment.php

He was so young!

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away (or some distance), Mansa Mustache was advancing deep into my territory .

Luckily though, it was with missionaries, not soldiers. :p

Spoiler :
attachment.php

The Egyptians, like the Congolese, were famous for their unwavering support of their leaders.

Seeing as Mr. Mustache had me cut off from the rest of the planet and could wipe me out with half of one of his city garrisons, I decided to convert, if at least to have someone not trying to kill me as early as possible. Eventually, all 3 of my cities were Jewish.

Mazel Tov!

So here I was, a little Sclemiel hiding from everyone behind a guy with a mustache the size of my Nebbish of an empire. Oy Vey.....

I kind of hung out on my peninsula, trying not to attract attention to myself. I later met Isabella, who went to war with Shaka. Both of them were Gentile Schmucks who didn't want to have anything to do with me, which I suppose was alright, seeing as it kept me alive. Come to think of it, the eary game was actually really boring, something I didn't think Deity games could even be. Regardless, that was fine with the Egyptians. As long as Mansa Musa's mustache (the REAL ruler of the Mali) was cool with us, we survived.

Wait a minute...

That gives me an idea.....

You see, back when I was playing on Noble, I always had Permanent Alliances on. Basically, if you and one of the ai's got really close (i.e., were at war with the same guy long enough), you could fuse yourselves together into one hyper-civ. Essentially, you'd be on a team for the rest of the game.

I began to wonder: Could I get Mustache Man on my side? If I could, I might actually win. Should I? Well, it was worth a shot...

...but HOW?? How do I not only get Mansa to be friends, but also for us to share a war? Then It dawned on me: Defensive Pacts. A step down from alliances, its basically a mutual protection pact. If I got one of those, all I'd need to do was piss off a weak ("weak" by deity standards, that is) civ, get them to DoW on me, and then let Mansa fight them off FOR me. But could it work??? Could I really pull this off??? Could I get Mansa to do all the fighting, and just join in for the ride???

I guess I was going to be.........The Hitchhiker.

YYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Will Copaczin's plan to join with Mansa Musa Work???? Will he even survive if it does????? DO I REALLY NEED ALL THESE QUESTION MARKS??????? And if Red_Spy is supposed to star in this, WHERE IS HE????????
Spoiler :
He comes in part 2

Tune in next time kids, for the next installment of our award-nominated* series, "The Hitchiker: Copaczin's Revenge"!!!!

Spoiler :
Nominated for Razzie: Worst Screenplay (lost to "Journey of a Thousand Fails")

It appears you have been blocked well in by Mali.
On another note I'm not sure what ARR stands for but i don't think this is one. AAR's tend to be interactive.
EDIT: after a quick google yoshi appears to be right and i retract the above statement :)

My face when I couldn't see the first 4 pictures

The Pictures work fine on my browser, so I don't know what the problem is.

EDIT: Didn't fix it but you didn't really miss anything. They were just a sort of promo poster I made with MS Paint, the start screen, and the Egyptians meeting Mansa Musa and Shaka

Oh well. I don't know what the problem is either but those pictures arn't too important. At least I got an excuse to use your picture :D

I have a feeling that pic is gonna be floating around for a while, and randomly appear in some thread 8 months from now :D

Also, I made this really bad promo poster for the AAR, which apparently no one can see in the actual post. Anyway, here it is.

Spoiler :

Don't laugh

I could not stop laughing.

UPDATE TIME: The game seems to be dragging on thanks to a near endless war going on, so I don't think I can get to the end of the AAR by the original time set . I did, however, manage to get several hours of gameplay in, and things have started to pick up :D. So to summarize, I got a lot done this weekend but I didn't get it finished entirely.

So, without further ado....

THE HITCHHIKER: PART 2

When we last left our Meshugeh Mentsh, Copaczin, he was trying desperately to get Mansa Musa on his good side. It seemed as though little progress was being made, so Copaczin decided to send in an agent to steal a few gold for Egyptian construction projects. This agent was named Red_Spy.

Spoiler :
attachment.php

Seen here Cleverly disguised as a guy in a dress.

Red_Spy went on several missions into Mali territory, mostly stealing gold from Mansa Musa's giant money pool.

Meanwhile I met Saladin.
Spoiler :
attachment.php

Normally I'd take offence to that, but seeing how far behind I am compared to him, that was actually a compliment.

Anyway, I sent Red_Spy on a mission to see what Saladin was like, meaning he's have to go through Mali territory. Oh well. Mansa Musa's my frinds, right? I'm sure nothing bad will happen....

Spoiler :
attachment.php

Ah, $#!%

Luckily for me, Mansa Musa was finally able to Permanent Alliance. The dynamic duo suddenly found themselves the most power Civ on the continent.

Spoiler :
attachment.php

Whoop-de-do

Oh wait, nevermind.

Most powerful Civ on the PLANET.

That's right, folks. I was now on a team with the guy who had the best technology and the strongest military in the world. This was going to be fun...

Also, I advanced 3 ages in one turn.

The aliens from "Evolution" must have felt like this.

The board was set, and the pieces were moving. It was time to kick back, enjoy some fresh Egyptian wine, and let Mansa Musa conquer the world and win me the game.

It was time to..............Hitchhike to Victory

YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA---- oh wait, I used that joke last time.:(

Anyway, I leisurely declared war on Isabella and Shaka, not caring at all I just attacked two Deity level ai's.

The world exploded.

Mansa Musa tore through them like wildfire. It was as though someone had taken a flamethrower to a giant field made of napalm. Mali tanks and Egyptian swordsmen tore through enemy lines, their musket and riflemen defenders providing little challenge.

Spoiler :
attachment.php

Mali Tanks and Egyptian swords proved more than a match for Shaka and Izzy's troops.

This was also when i learned that Mansa Musa had nukes, and was VERY liberal about using them.

Spoiler :
attachment.php

Zulu cities were reduced to radioactive cesspools by Mali missiles.

In other news, the random event generator cheated me out of a great artist.

Spoiler :
attachment.php

Can we fund it in a year or so?

Apparently, theres an Image limit, so I can;t put any more pictures on. I guess I'll have to continue this in a bit.

Regardless, I found myself in a very fortunate position. With the Mali on my side, I was able to do absolutely nothing and still have a shot at actually WINNING. Could it really happen? Would I really win my second Deity game? Only time would tell...

More to come later.
