Double posting SPAMHOLE. :p

Ohwell you're a pushover.

a unified off topic is what makes real discussions. Would the atheists go to a board called religion, not likly so all the discussions would be boring with only one view. spliting things into seperate places and expect everyone to stay in there corner doesn't encourage discussion

I think there is good reason that the suggestion was never accepted before. It's a bad idea to split and the mixture of light and dark material is what make things interesting.

But I do agree! Apart from being an even poll, I get the impression the no-voters actually say why they voted no, while many yes voters simply say "yeah, go for it" (I know, I know, not all do...).

Actually I think that goes both ways. While many yes voters simply say "yeah, go for it", most no voters are even on the subject, and only vote no because it's more convienient for them. Either that or "leave OT alone"

Fact is, I don't want to leave. I don't think any of us do. I have yet to find a forum that's as good as CFC. The traffic is not too high (like Apolyton) and yet not too low (too many to list). No annoying pop ups (Smashboards), flames and 1337 kept to a minimum (just about any other forum out there), and very high level of spelling and grammar (GameFAQs).

Problem is, CFC's OT is getting way too politics heavy. People say, "don't click on the politics threads then!" Fine, but they're taking up everything, driving other threads back to page 2 or further. People say that the other threads are there because "they're not interesting" but that's not right. Before the war, the anime thread was very popular. Now, the thread barely hit 40 posts before sinking. People say "leave OT alone, it's mix of politics and light-discussions is what forms OT" Problem is, the politics side is getting extremely dominant.

Maybe it's because people like Sultan are on vacation, but I feel out of place here now. It feels like everyone I knew when I came here left, and the "new" crowd only wants to debate.

Either way, I know I'm a minority, and no matter what decision is made, people are going to end up leaving. :(

Scrimshaw!! Hitro!! Ancient Grudge!! Jack!!!

The cavalry has arrived! Thank god for some more "No's!"

if you don't want a thread to die then simply post on it to bring it back on top, politics or not it will eventually get moved down if no one posts on it

The great thing about off Topic is that it's always fluctuating. Sometimes it gets politics heavy - other times it dies now and one finds it hard to get involved in a really good debate/argument. But thats what makes it so FUN.

People come, people go. Most of the people that were here when I joined many years ago are gone now but that happens. People move on. I've grown to know and respect OTHER posters in their place. It doesn't mean that anything's "broken".

People are whining about the fact that the political side is becomeing very dominant... I take issue with this. I just did a count of page 1. (September 3, 7:50PM)

I count 19 Political threads and 23 "light" threads (not inlcuding the stickys). I also gave light the benefit of the doubt and when unsure put them as "political". So 19 could be a "high" count.

I would be willing to bet that over a period - say 2 weeks - the two "sides" pretty much average out.

Why is there no clapping smiley?

Light-hearted stuff doesn't meen spam, it mean $hit you can have a chuckle to. This place is too robotic at the moment and XIII is just trying guide it. All this crap say 'it's his little kitten' is just buu$hit... people trying too hard.

It's going to happen I reckon, just accept evolution and keep helping to make this place somewhere where people want to stay.

I propose this:

Create another forum simply for light pointless fluff. It can become as irrelevant as those who post in it want it to be. Call it whatever you want. That way you won't be offended by the nasty political threads.

For the REST of us (looks like the majority right now) leave Off Topic the way it is - give it a new name - I don't care. BUT the point is this: Leave a forum intact where those of us that want to debate CAN - and keep a sense of communtiy intact by talking about lighter topics as well.

THEN give it to a moderator that IS willing to deal with the political aspects of a forum (it's understandable that some simply are not).

That will do exactly squat. The point is to get all the repetitive political stuff together in the one place. I think when that happens more people will realise how repetitive it all is...

Ah, forget it. I don't need to take this really cool stuff for trying to take this OT to a lighter, funner stage...

PS And for your info, I wasn't exactly asked, before being made a mod. ;)
