I dont think that sub dividing the forum will eliminate immature posters but it will relegate them to only a particular forum without alienating other posters.

This is not a criticism of current moderstor style, but I for one would like to see more well thought out debates and not so much one sided my view is right and yours is wrong style of thread. But I think in part for this to happen then a greater amount of detail in moderator action needs to happen on part of XIII and Co.
But this equates to being a policeman and would understandibly be very draining on the current mods.

Ohhh I get it now! OT Lite = Mindless Fluff. Fine then, seems harmless enough, but I still dont see the pressing need, aside from making you enjoy your role as mod more. Go ahead then rearrange everything so that its convenient for you. But it wont make it right. This site isnt about your wants and needs, its about providing a service for a large group of people who share a common interest. This is one of the first things you see when you open the CFC Forums page :

XIII, by your wording, it seens to me that the decision to change is already made, regardless of what happens here...

Deciding that he wants to do it and getting TF to actually do it turns out to be two seperate things. . . From what I gather, it's XIII's kitten to play with. . . . and I think if he had his druthers he'd have done it already. But I also think he doesn't want to upset/piss us off too much.

Now that I'm done putting words in his mouth, , I still think it's fine the way it is. Pretty cool seeing Bose's Non-Member picture thread next to a political or religious thread. Helps keep things sane, here. Don't get too worked up by all the heavy stuff. . . .

Fluff can be used as a weapon and has been before. Especially in the face of pointless, intractable, repetitive, boring arguments.

Splitting OT is a good idea, but I would not split it in a 'Dark' and a 'Light' forum, but create a Politics forum for all political subjects, and apart from that just keep off-topic the same.

You know where Im heading? I wish youd tell me because I sure havent got a clue Which words in particular dont you endorse? Seems like an open and shut case to me. XIII has stated that he/she hates threads having to do with politics and religion but is forced to read them because of his/her role as moderator. XIII went so far as to agree with Ohwell who stated that people who post in political and religious threads are the lowest form of life, or words to that effect. So XIII wants to change things so that his/her onerous duties as moderator will be more enjoyable. I think its wrong to change things for 35,000 people to please ONE person who has a little more influence than everyone else. Case closed! (bangs gavel)

I happen to be a big fan of fluff. Life is %95 fluff and %5 stuff. I have no problem with it at all, I just think it can be even more pointless and boring than politics and religion at times. Why take an axe to OT to save it from politics and religion? Hungry Hippos and Chutes and ladders are more worthy of discussion than the real world policies of political and religous leaders? BTW, from now on I'll refer to politics and religion as P&R, Im tired of typing it out every 35 seconds.

It is just that there are times when it seems that all levity is being driven out of OT by arguments that are repeated ad nauseum. How many thousands of threads do we need about evolution, religion or Iraq?

There are hardly 30,000 people actually posting in OT. The number of regulars is 100 or less. Like it or not, we are not that big of a club...
