Ok. I just shelled out a lot of money for a quad core (amd 9500) with 3 gigs of ram and an 8500 gt. This should run Civ4 flawlessly so now I can FINALLY play the gigantic mess of a game that I have dreamed of.

I have the original and BTS. I don't have Warlords.
I want bigger maps, longer games, and more civs in said games. I guess some re-balancing wouldn't kill me but I don't want one of those massively "throw a bunch of crap at the wall" mods for the kind of games I like... plus I don't have Warlords.

So which mod would be best for me? I was into FexFX before the upgrade but he hasn't updated in god only knows and I'd honestly prefer an up-to-date mod seeing as 3.13 came out quite a time ago.

Thanks!

play road to war with that PC.
then play rhye's and fall of civilization

these mods need badass pc's to run. they are included with your bts disk

To call those two mods scenarios is like calling the White House a cottage. They are both almost larger then vanilla civ four and I would recommend trying them both. I might as well recommend Fall From Heaven While I'm at it (no the one on your disk, but the one in the mod section).

As for what you want I would recommend finding some of the larger maps in the map section and setting the game to marathon. There are also a simple way to randomly generate ginormous maps, but you'll have to wait for a modder to tell how.

You can always try the Wolfshanze Mod (see sig-line)... it's a mod for the base game oif BtS itself, and includes a ton of new units and graphics, along with a solid boost to naval units.

I include 34-player maps, with every nation in the game included on a single map of the earth that you can play from ancient times to modern.

So you can either play a "standard" game with my mod or you can play the same thing on a map of the earth... in either case, the gamecore has been modified to allow up to 34 civs in any game (so you could play huge random maps with 34 civs too if you wanted). I also included some custom map generators, which create better maps then the default Civ4 map-maker.

Ok. I'm downloading that. It sounds a lot like what I want in terms of minor additions. Now all I need to find out is how to stretch the game time WAAAY out and how to get a random map dealie with WAAAY bigger proportions (It sounds like your big map is just for Earth... which will be very interesting but I enjoy randomness. Eventually, I'd know Earth though.

The "Earth" maps are listed under "Scenarios" (but they're not really scenarios... just standard epic games on a map of earth).

For you, I might recomend just generating a random map using one of the new map scripts (like Perfect World).

Note if you want to use a random-generated map with 34 civs, you'll need to go into "CUSTOM GAME" (under "single player") to play with 34 civs.

I would recommend Carter's Earth map if you want a detailed one. It's the biggest yet created that retains the true proportions of Earth.

There's plenty of room for 34 civs on the custom scripts if you take the big maps.

Tech progression should still occur the same as default Civ4... I only added ONE new tech (Air Superiority), so tech progression remains the same... the only differance is that you won't have Frigates as your best naval unit for 800 years then magically jump to WWII Battleships... you'll actually notice the "age of coal" ships inbetween!

Well, if you want minimal changes to gameplay, this is about as minimal as you can get (that is no game mechanic changes, but having that many civs on such a large map is quite a change already), combine the following mods:

XXL World
Blacksun's 77 civ dll
Civ Gold 4.0

Start up a game with a gigantic map, 40 civs and have a blast... :goodjob:

btw, anything more than 40 civs and you'll have to write your own mapscript because the placing that most of them use can't find enough spots to put that many civs down - at least, I haven't found an existing script that can, yet.

Try Fall From Heaven...

it's different from the toher mods, and maybe not what your looking for, though
