The History

The Mud Patch has a full and unique history which makes it difficult to fully explain everything with the Civilopedia's limited space. For this reason we have compiled a complete history of the Mud Patch World titled "The History of of Civilization". It can be downloaded here. Enjoy!
Note: The History is in .pdf format and contains bookmarks for each chapter.

Difficulty Level Settings

This Scenario uses a custom difficulty level which the scenario was designed around. For this reason, please always play using the "Chieftain" level. This is NOT the same chieftain from civilization 3; it is much, much harder.

Installation

Installer for Version 3 is in development. Please use the normal version for now

There are two ways to install the game based on which version of Civilization 3 you have. Installer and the "normal" way of installing scenarios.

Civilization 3 (vanilla) and Play the World- NOT COMPATIBLE AT ALL
Civilization 3 Conquests: Installer and normal both work
Civilization 3 Complete: Normal ONLY

The Link to download can be found earlier in this post.

Thanks for reading and we hope you download and enjoy "The Mud Patch"!

There is a whole history which can be found in the civilopedia. It is way too long to be posted here ;)

The installer will overwrite these files if you select the "complete" option in the installer. If you do not want the custom title screen and menu music select "minimal".

The only sound file that gets replaced is "menu1". The other files just go in the "build" folder and do not overwrite anything.

The Traditional version has been updated. The files are now much more organized and there is a readme file with instructions. The links have been updated.

Last night I finished a game as the "Vodni" on the "a new world" map. and i have to say it was a blast!

After an initial struggle to develop my lands and infrastructure i found myself strapped for cash (to upgrade my units) and happy faces, so i decided to colonize those spice islands to the SW. while immensely profitable, i had to develop a navy and small defensive force to hold off Aeterneum (spelling) raids. They managed to take a city or 2 every once in a while, but finally my tech advantage proved too much and their raids stopped.

I used footmen to great effect (supported by a few of those powerful pikemen) and was able to unite everything south of the Xeron lands (including Crizon) very quickly. Next I conquered the Xeron lands in the west (including about 4 or 5 wonders!) found myself deciding between the Eleron and the Cult for my next target. I decided that despite their tech advantage and access to gunpowder, the Eleron lands would yield the greatest results. So i took my 2 footman armies and my 10 or so footmen and blitzed across the Bridge, suffering moderate casualties, but gaining the observatory, the mausoleum, the Voyage, and horses, as well as an easily defensible position.

At this point I was pretty powerful and had a skeletal (but effective) rail network in my empire. I used compression cav. supported by pikes and armies to take the Cultists land (i wanted those luxuries) . Basically, I would blitz a city with cav, defend with an army to deter attacks, then move the army within striking distance of the next city and blitz with the cav. It was a VERY quick campaign. At this point both Xeron and Seasons (independently!) declared war on me ON THE SAME TURN. i lost a few units to xeron gunners in the south and seasonED scouts in the north, but THANKFULLY no cities were lost. And the timing couldnt have been better because that very turn i finished replaceable parts and was able to upgrade to compression national guards. The enemy assault stopped dead. A few blitzes later and Season was gone and only Xeron was left. I took Sulfur city and then won a VP victory. I was sad i wouldnt finish off my enemy, but it was a blast anyway!

a few comments:

the attack power for cannons is 16, while the artillery is only 12. I think these should probably be switched.

I would give frigates +1 attack. as is they dont really have enough oomph per ship. and possibly let them upgrade to ironclads to give a more immediate potential upgrade?

I think there might be too many governments. Granted they add variety, but i found myself in a republic from the moment i could be. and most other civs were too (who werent kleptocracies)

what exactly is the point of the Gray guys in the NW, the Black ones in the NE and all the other random unplayable civs? theres no reason to even interact with them, as victory comes from continental domination. did i miss something here?

Anyway, again it was GREAT fun! well done! I think i'll try season soon, since they seem pretty tough.

I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying The Mud Patch! I have already noticed the two problems with the units that you had and will be fixing them in an upcoming patch. I still need to gather more feedback about the government types. Some people really like them and others not so much.

The majority of the unplayable civs are just areas that you can take over for resources. The Xeron, for example can take over "Longe Ore" for horses and iron. The Seasons can take over the "Isle of Servus" and "Rosa Puella" for land (since they start out with little). Lastly, the number of victory points needed to win is being raised slightly in the next version so you will need to capture some VPs that are not on the New World in order to win. This will also ensure that you reach the modern times before you win!:king:
