Please only post ideas on the name of our nation...

This is how it works:

Someone posts a name.
Someone seconds that name.
More people second that name.
That name will be added to a list.
A poll will be posted whenever the citizens decide it is a right time to name the nation.
That poll will last 3 days.
The result of said poll will determine the name of our nation!


Any ideas for change or alteration are appreciated.

I'd still like to wait until we create the game to decide on a name. The geography around us, as well as the civ/leader could greatly effect what we want to be our name.

"Non" in Latin means "not"

I second this proposal, as the decidedly Latin-bias in the other names disturbs me.

First... England, America.... this one turns to... blah... nice if we get a non-English language that isn't going to be impossible (literally or figuratively) to figure out, though.

That said... I agree we should probobly wait...

On the second point, shall we include a "wait for civ start" option?


Well... we could always bog the process down with various legal manuevers motivated by questionable ethics, to ensure that such a decision does not occure until after we load the save....

I don't think there are any particularly obscure languages in civ... Even, like, Malinese (Mandinka) has resources lying around on the interweb...

With so many people saying we should wait, are you still planning to poll it early? Many of us base our votes on willingness of the candidate to go along.

No, I've decided to keep this thread open until which time the people think that our nation should be named. Most likely after creation day, so I'll change my posts accordingly.

I'll third (?) a translated "our land", unless it turns out to be an English-speaking civ.

Even if it were to be England, I'm sure we could do something in old English or something?

An internet translator gives 'ure earde' as the Old English version of 'our land'... Obviously internet translators are to be trusted with caution, but that sounds different enough to be intriguing, don't it?

As for Americans... I suppose we could use a Spanish translation?
