the oobs 4th pitboss game (Warlords), 15 players

Afaik oob won't run a next one unless something unexpected happens and sparks his interest in the game again...

@ Hoplosternum no other harm was done other than the grave injustice of the mispelling of my name :p

Well well it looks like my fancy new power supply has crapped out... sort of. The LED light comes on but the computer doesn't... anyway the server is down indefinitely.

For those wanting me to start a new PTBS game after this one, crap like this is why I'm not going to.

Hoplo and I both (mis)spelled your name the same way when we subbed for you. Thats 2-1, so obviously you spelled your own name wrong, not us.

:crazyeye::lol:

Too bad! :sad:

There are more players wanting to get into PitBoss games than there are hosts available to accomodate them.

Well I'm trying to find someone who still sells the motherboard I'm looking for, which is an Asrock K7VM3 (this, I'm still waiting to hear back from that particular supplier). I've contacted a couple of suppliers and hopefully will hear back from them soon. I'd rather replace my old motherboard with the same type so I don't have to reinstall anything, but if it comes down to it I'll buy a newer one.

If you know anyone who sells them and is either in New Zealand or would ship there, let me know.

Update: Two days ago I asked the guy if he'd sent it, he said he would on monday (tuesday my time), so it should be on its way. Not sure how long it will take... probably a few weeks if the book I bought off Amazon a while back is any indication.

IF this is too much trouble, you can call off the game, since you tried your best to get it started again.

Well I want to get my server going as I use it for other things as well, so if you're all willing to wait, the game will be back up eventually (although I'll probably hand my civ over to someone else when it comes back up, I'll see how I feel then).

The replacement motherboard I've bought isn't working... either that or my CPU is stuffed. I'll probably end up taking it into work this coming week.

Update: I'm now working on the theory that it's the CPU at fault, not the motherboard... or even both. The history of the issue is that my power box died and replacing it didn't help, I figured at the time it took the mobo with it, but it may have taken the CPU down instead of or as well as the mobo.

Anyway, I'm buying a replacement CPU for NZ$10 bucks (1ghz athlon), which as long as I win the auction I should have in the next week. If the CPU was the problem this will fix the server, otherwise I'll probably swear off second hand parts and just buy a new (but cheap) mobo and CPU, which basically means an upgrade for the server.

And if that doesn't work, I'm climbing a water tower...
