I hate the terminally long sticky threads because after a while they lose their effectiveness due to the number of almost unrelated topics. Makes them really hard to search as well.

So here is a separate post about something I just noticed in V1.21.

Prior to V1.21 I thought you had to have an army located in a city and then have the units located in the city as well in order to load the units into the army.

Since armies have ******** healing powers and distorted defender status, I have been taking the aproack of never loading early armies with a full three units. The only real purpose for an early army is to get the first victory so you can build the Heroic Epic and later on the MilAcad if you get that far.

So I usually have a couple of armies with just one horseman or maybe one swordsman in them until things get a bit more advanced.

In this month's GOTM, I found that the armies kept trying to let me LOAD additional units into them whenever we were standing out in the middle of the fields with the army stacked in the same square with other units.

I did not exploit this feature, but it would have been easy to load an army with one horseman into a Galley and then load two knights into another galley and cross the ocean to assemble the units as an army on the other side and then Wreck unholy havoc onto the victims on the other side.

Has anyone else noticed any funky features with loading and/or unloading units from armies since V1.21 came out??

{edited to fix topic to acknowledge quick resolution by speed bump aka Firaxis of the moment)

iIn't that the way it's supposed to work? You only need the city to create the army. adding units is like reinforcements.

I think i've been doing this since before I patched.

Actually, Cracker, it has always been that way. In the original design doc it was planned that you would need to load armies in a city (possibly even in the city where they were created), but that never made it to the release build (1.07). In that build and all builds since, you can load your army wherever it happens to be.

Thanks for the quick and clear answer Speedy.

I knew I had read that blurb somewhere in the documentation about being able to only load armies in cities. The blurb also said something about being able to unload armies as long as they had not been moved from the city of origin.

Again it is really nice to have you guys monitor posts to the forums and participate because this helps to diffuse some of the problems that crop up with bugs and with documentation/patch/function mismatches.

All Hail Speed Bump! As cracker said, it IS really nice that someone at Friaxis is posting to clear up misconceptions. This is a Good Thing. Kudos to Mike B., too, for the info earlier (in another thread) on Only One Great Leader per Specific Elite. THAT was a biggie!!

Friaxians, PLEASE, continue this trend!!
