Ohhhhhh I played the 1st opus of oregon trail on my old Mac LCII Woww! that was a bit boring after hours and hours but i'd not forget that game, definitely not. Glad to see there are nostalgic people around here
The first was definitely the most fun. Hunting was the best. For some reason you did not have to reload you 1840's era rifle, so you could fire as fast as you could press the space bar. Many times did Rambo of the Prairie decimate a herd of digital buffalo, only to be informed that he could only carry 200 pounds of meat back to the wagon.
In a recent game, I did the exact same mistake the Donner Party made. I crossed the Blue Mountains in the middle of December. Everybody died. I have been playing Oregon Trail II since I was 8 years old. I made it to the top on the high scores too. I love the music in the sequel. It kept me playing! Don't you hate raftng down the Colombia River?
Oh! And BTW. Oregon Trail 4. Their most recent one. A total ripoff. NOBODY DIES!!!!!! That was so stupid. But the graphics were great. Even if the graphics crash the game all the time!
The first one was only so fun because it was the easiest. The second one was a LOT harder. I could barely make it to Salt Lake City. Never tried the third, nor the fourth (if there is one, not sure)
Haha Oregon Trail....I'll find it in a bargain bin someday...
It was tragic yet fun to (not deliberately) **** up and have 2 people die and half your supplies lost ony to make it to the end with ONE sick party member. Of course I was always the poorest of the poor...more challenging.
I loved being able to name people in your party to those you care about:
"Rebecca drowned."
(She was my girlfriend at the time)
I've played that game WAY back when my friend had an Apple][e! I just saw it on the shelves for the PC. Those were the good old days of gaming. Classic pixelated fun.
