The overabundance of spammy polls in OT

If Floppa would be supermod all these polls would probably be closed and all the people who posted the polls banned for a month and all who posted in them for a week. :eek:

Well Lefty, the rules say no spamming, and we all agree the polls are spam, so they fall under our interpretation of spam, then I see no problem closing them.

Okay a few are kind of spammy but if you look at the OT some of the closed polls are just meant to start converstations, Sometimes a poll is a useful medium, Like my ant destruction one, I thought it would be funny to see peoples ideas and thoughts, the fact that it had a poll does not mean it should be shut down I believe that although some of the polls are spammy most aren't and so instead of complianing about them POST i think it will be well worth it. Don't try to impose on the OT forum open it up to broader converstions
 
The really annoying thing is the willy nilly way you pick the polls

You got rid of
Bidet or Toilet roll
Favorite means of ant destruction (which was turning into a really cool converstation with over 3 pages of posts)

But you did not get rid of
ARe you evil?
Favorite day of the week?
Favorite Month?
Favorite Cartoon hypnosist?

You are choosing based on personel preferences not on spaminess sure maybe polls turned from 1/8 to 1/4 of threads but its still not a problem, Were not writing the same thing over and over agian we aren't forcing anyone to look at it. You guys are just jerking the people around who have fun seeing the results of lighthearted polls. if you wan't a seperate forum on polls so be it, just don't force on a conversation, if civfanitics ot-forum is about the exchange of ideas don't force them down opon us and let us have fun with our polls

We allow a modicum of lighthearted talk, but there is a limit to anything, and that limit has been reached.

I must agree here. Perfection, what you said is correct, and that's why we post here, but the poll threads WERE a little out of hand you must admit.
 
Thuderfall has spoken to his disciples in the Staff forum. G.L.O.T.S. shall be regulated and reduced. When the OT become become overall too silly, lightweigt, spammish, or otherwise lacking the gravitas approprate to so exalted a site and forum, then his moderater shall reduce said G.L.O.T.S. be killing some lower quality threads.

I'm not looking to do one now and I dont even have a topic in mind but I'd hate to "mistime" it and get a ban or something - are we going to have like a max number on the board or a time period in which no more can be added?

The thing is that there were too many of these stupid polls at the same time Rodgers and everybody got a bit tired of them. In a few weeks all the polls active now will have died and people will actually enjoy a few nonsense polls again.
In my opinion these polls don't really serve a purpose in OT but to have a little fun in between I don't think the OT should be completely filled with nonsense however.

I agree on quantity point - but as I occasionally put them up I didn't want to get into trouble for doing so. A few weeks sounds about right I suppose.
 
And Rodgers was not the only poll maker, correct? If he was, then damn him. :p
