PS Curt, I distinctly recall you calling someone "Old Man" recently, so the claim that you dont call names is threadbare.

Hawk.

I make a habit of NOT calling people any monickers or names these days, as we both know it leads to a ban.

If I have used the term 'old man' it was most likely one of many forms of our quaint British endearment.
The friendly sarcasm of which you have missed the point of.

Care to reproduce this quote to back up your accusation?

Maybe your expectations are too high.

I guess we both agree, there is no god, so how could there ever be a proof of it?

Do you expect people to come up and say, I could find no proof of god, but the evidence against god was overwhelming, so I debunk my faith? Do you expect people to cut off the branch they are sitting on?

No one can jump his shadow such fast. No one switches his life style or personalty in one day.

What you say is true, sir.

I expect merely a bit of reasoning and humilty from the religionists, as their religion prescribes.

Some do apply to this, and some do not.

Well, I am still waiting for the religionists to produce something even close to proof.
I have made an effort to make my stance clear.

All they have offered (mostly) is at best empty sanctimony and arrogant dismissals and at worst, plain childish insults.
Well, there are many people who claim they've seen God. Joan of Arc, for example. Do you believe them? Of course not. But you can't say with 100% certainty that God is completely man-made and doesn't really exist. There's no way they could come anywhere near to proving God to you, because it can only be proven to you if you see God yourself (and even then there's the chance that it was a hallucination or something else), and they can't make you see God.

I was making fun of your autocratic tone of post, sir.
Sorry, didn't mean to sound autocratic. :) I still don't get the reference to trains, though...

I'll get as offended as I please, it is not your want to dictate my emotions.
Certainly. What I meant was that if you do indeed get offended, I'll be puzzled and I'll think of you as illogical. Not that I'll send you to the gulag you if you get offended. :)

Agreed, then.
I won't argue this point.
But I am really at odds with those who will not accept any other view...

I'm thinking about fundies.

I can imagine a gulag full of indignant people!!! :D

I think that the Religion debates are healthy for both sides. The fact is that both sides are assosiating with each other, speaking what they think, refining their beliefs, etc.

A while ago I withdrew from religion threads. I was sick of being called an idiot, saying Christianity is proven wrong, etc. If christianity was proven wrong, why would I believe it? I asked before where this solid proof that christianity is wrong is, but it was forgotten, and people resumed saying I was an idiot.

as I've said before, I'm only a teen, I dont know everything, I just say what I think. Same with Atheists (for the purpose of this argument, lets not make Atheist an offensive word). They dont know everything, so they theorise to fill the gaps and 'prove' things wrong.

And Curtsibling, I'm sure you have good reasons for what you believe. But I have to say that your arguments are sometimes confusing. Also this is for everyone in religious debates - lets not degrade into offending each other. However, sometimes I feel that people are trying to find as many things they find offensive about christianity, so they can whinge about them, and put christians is the bad books.

Example: someone said that christians offend others by calling them sinners. But we say that we are all sinners. We all do things wrong, no-one is perfect (with the exception of Perfection, he is one plane of existance above us ;)). People claim they have 'read the whole bible' etc, but they are misquoting it, and often saying things wrong.

I AM NOT a sinner. Thus you Chrstians are wrong and your haughty attitude is wrong. :D

Some human/christians don't need my help to be put in a bad light.

Look in a history book and you will see plenty of examples of very non-divine actions by 'god-fearing men.'

And why have I been picked out as the 'poster boy' for the forces of evil?

What bugs me is that you assume everyone puts a value on your terminology.

In my view, babies are not born sinful.
It is preposterous to expound such drivel.

Saying we are sinners from day one, is just a cynical ploy by the church to get a foothold before you have a chance to even speak out.

I debaptised as soon as I was able.

WiilJ and CurtSibling warned for continuing the substance of a religious debate here.
