The story of ROme began long ago. Then, the Latin peoples were nomadic, living off the the land. But this time could not last forever: eventually the time came to settle down. Two people, named Romulus and Remus had the the Latin people settle down in a peninsula called Italy. Several cities were built around the peninsula. However the Latin Confederacy (as Rome was called then) was not the only civilization formed then:

To the north were the Celts, a warlike nation whose people were spread all over the continent of Europa. The south and west border of the Latins were shared with the Carthaginians. To the east was Hungary, the domain of the Magyars, all of which existed in a cautious peace.

However, this peace could not last forever: in 550 AUC (4450 BC), the Latin peoples waged war on the Celtic peoples, to expand the Latin borders beyond the borders of Italy, and for the Latins to have more room to live. The cities of Geneva and Milan were easily destroyed by our archers, though all was not good: the city of Venizia was quickly taken by Celtic archers; in other words, Revenge will be quick and painful for the Celts! Fortunately, our archers quickly retook the city within 5 years.

This looks good so far.

I see you're pursuing a policy of Lebensraum against the Celts. We really should find the Latin version of that word... Perhaps you could just conquer Germany, so what's German is just as Roman as well?

After years of fighting, the city of Munich fell to Rome, the first city conquered by Rome. However, a resistance movement had grown in Munich, a movement that had grown to consist of the entire population of Munich:

After many years of fighting, the war came to an end in 1150 AUC, with the Treaty of Dublin (the second of the Celtic State), which guaranteed an at least a temporary peace in exchange for the Celtic city of Belgrade and the knowledge of Bronze Working. Europe in that year looked like this:

The first Spearmen, the Soldiers that defended Vienna so well in the (First) Romano-Celtic War, were trained in Roman borders, the Primus Cohors Munimi Venitiae (the First Cohort of the Defense of Venice, or the 1st Venitian Defense Cohort). Meanwhile, the Patriarcha of Rome is beginning to look at France, though a full scale invasion would have to wait for the development of Iron Working...

Your next move should be to build up culture, so as to fill in those holes in your borders, and also guarantee connection as the next cities fall.

In the end though, it's up to you. I look forward to an early invasion of Gaul.

Apart from the founding of Catanzara , and how Rome managed to catch up to the rest of the world technologically at the expense of the treasury, nothing meaningful happened 2150 AUC and 2275 AUC. However, in 2275, a road from Syracuse to the Iron deposits in the Alps was completed, Patriarch Appius III Romanus Metellus immediately ordered the training of a new kind of soldier called the Legionary:

On an interesting side note, the nation of Tibet had completed a great wonder called the "Oracle".

In 2310, the Great Lighthouse was completed in Venitia.

In 2405 AUC, Patriarch Romulus Romanus Pius decided that the French had existed for too long: with 49 500 Legionaries at our disposal (for this game, 1 unit= 4 500 soldiers, the size of a Roman Legion): Rome went to war with France.

The war couldn't have gone more smoothly: in 2450, our legions conquered the city of Luxembourg. The city of Tolouse fell next, leaving Paris as the only city remaining French city. The least smooth battle was the Seige of Paris: 4 Legions were killed attempting to destroy the Parisian garrison.

However, all was not bad: in 2530, in the 1st Roman Legion, a legionary by the name of Trajan was nearly killed trying to save another legionary from falling into the river Seine. This act of bravery was a great boost to propaganda, making Trajan one of the grestest heros of the Roman Patriarchy. Trajan was sent to Florentia.

In the year 2570, the Second Neapolitan Legion killed the last garrisons in Paris.

Not to long after, a peace treaty was signed with France. The problem was, where was France?

In other news, according to the Foreign Ministry, with support from the Ministry of War, Germany appears to have one of the most backward armies in the world:

Ah, going for the mostly-historical route, I see now. First you attacked the Celts and Frence/Gauls... then you'll wage the Punic Wars to take Spain and North Africa, then proceed to attack the East to expand there, then finish up with expansion into central Europe and Germany. I wish you luck on the epic task of rebuilding the Roman Empire.

The Year 3070 opens to a map trade with the Hungarians that reveals the discovery of a civilization that reveals the existence of a nation in a far off land called the "Iroquois":

The discovery of these "Iroquois" causes a huge shock to the Roman State, with was soon eclipsed by questions:

1. Who are the "Iroquois"?
2. How did the Hungarians come into contact with these Iroquois?
3. Where are the Iroquois?
4. Why did these people call themselves the "Iroquois?

The extremely shocked Roman people; plebians, land owners, writers, and senators alike all came up with "answers" to these questions:

1. The Iroquois are the descendants of the French citizens that somehow escaped the fires of the destruction of France, a belief very popular among the soldiers and Generals.
2. The Hungarians sailed across the sea to the land of the "Iroquois" (New France?). This is seen as absurd and ridiculous, as the Hungarian peoples did have the Great Lighthouse to ensure their safety, and are furthermore completely landlocked!
3. The writer Gaius Plinius Secundus, better known to the world as Pliny the Elder, proposed that the Iroquois are the inhabitants of Atlantis, or at least a colony of Atlantis before it sank,
4. "Iroquois" is either a French word, or the the corruption of one of their words.

However, these theories are proved wrong, with the meeting of an Iroquois envoy in Budapest, who gladly exchanged a world map with contact with a nation called the "Aztecs" in exchange for Roman knowledge of the Wheel and Masonry. (Why they never learned this on their own is a question.)

Good thing you don't have a settler empire up. Me and the Iroquois waged a Cold War for centuries in my First Reich thread... then I finally got about 10 armies that I used to crush them. They could only threaten my cities and force me to disband them for soooo long. >:3

Anywho, looks good so far. I hope your empire expands quickly, may Europe be unified soon under the Roman Empire's banner.

In 3072 AUC (I know that the game says 2030= 3070, but I decided I should be a little more creative with the numbers), a man named Cuauhtemoc claiming to be from the "Mexicas" (the nation whom we gained contact with not 2 years previously), who also claimed to be a representitive of the "Tlatoani" of that nation, came to the palace of Patriarch Titus II Sicinius Austus.

Cuauhtemoc proposed to Titus that they [the Romans] should give the Mexica the map of Rome and the knowlege of the Wheel in exchange for the map of Mexica. Titus, who lived up to his Cognomen (Austrus translates as "cunning") eventually managed to change the deal into an echange of World Maps, 61 million Denarii worth of Nahuatl Gold (the entire treasury of Mexica) and contact with a nation called "Tawantinsuyu" (though for reasons of convenience, they were just called the 'Incas', after their ruler's title, in casual conversation)

Meetings with the Incan ambassador eventually led to the exchange of world maps and the entire Incan treasury.

Good news happens in 4050: The Great Library, a huge library meant to archive all of the achievements in human civilization, is completed in Rome.
