Who has used the lame old save/load "cheat"?

Example:
- Saving before entering goody huts
- Before combat
- before war
- before taking a city
- Or the old "stupid AI stumbling on my sub and declaring war glitch"

I must say i've used it before entering a goody huts, just to see what else i could of got. :o

But if you have perserve random seed turned on then the results will be the same.

Is preserve random seed on by default? Since in vanilla Civ I always got the same result after reloading the game (unless of course you attacked from a different square/different order).

Is it on by default for scenarios as I never remembered changing some of the settings but I've noticed in scenarios that the random seed is not always preserved.

Anyway you know what else you could of got. 25 or 50 gold? A tech you don't have? settler if you don't have one? a city? those good old barbarians? ^^

I always reload when I told the unit to go here but the mouse move and the unit go on the neighbour tile.... It's make me crazy when it's a big load..

I reload often the 4000 BC save when the "game over" red light shines.

Finally i use a partial "lame old save/load cheat" on sid but didn't even have a win yet :àp

I reload for misclicks as well since its accidental and can often be blamed on factors outside of your control...

I save before entering a goody hut. If I get barbarians I reload and leave the hut for the AI.

I just hate barbarians running around, I also play with sedentary barbs since civ2 :)

I use it, sadly. It just gets so frustrating at times. I will usually limit myself though, e.g. I'll reload one out of every four huts if all I get are barbarians. Which is what I usually get.

I may be wrong here but I believe that the hut result changes every turn so after waiting a turn it should be possible to pop the hut safely. This is something I avoid in my recent games as it doesn't feel like acceptable cheating to reload hut results.

Dell19 is right I've experience this myself, wait a turn and the random seed for the hut is completely changed offering different results.

Let's assume you reload a bad hut pop, do something to change the RNG, then pop the hut and get a settler or city. Doesn't that make the rest of the game pointless? Knowing you cheated to get ahead early?

I use to reload often until i played my first GOTM. Not reloading changed the whole feel of the game and made any later accomplishments feel well deserved. Now i seldom reload and usually only then to help figure out how something new to me works.

Cheating does make the game pointless for some people but others will find a little bit of cheating acceptable. Since its possible to get a settler from a hut then it can be justified by saying that you could have started a new game until you got a settler from a hut...

It's true when you play at a level you can't win 'cause you r learning.... say Sid ^^
Even with reload it's great to win the game.. and no reload win will come. You don't play on warlord like Deity so you learn more by playing higher lv with reload before being experienced.

I really hate that all the Conquests don't use 'preserve random seed'. I don't reload for anything else in the regular game than 'technical' issues (misclick etc), or if I deliberately want to test different outcomes. But I must say, I'm really tempted sometimes in the Conquests, when something goes completely wrong...and admittedly, I can not always resist ;)
Heck, it even is possible to reload until you get a SGL! Did that once, when I wanted to see what's the best to expect in 'Everlasting Rome!'.

I guess if someone says he never had done, he cheats :P

Like most people, I'll load the autosave for technical errors (misclicks and the like), or if I enter into a course of action that turns out to be a really monumentally bad idea ("No, Caesar, I won't give you wines -- oh crap, you just landed 40 Legionnaires on my shores and took 6 cities in 3 turns!"). Other than that, I will confess to reloading once or twice when one of my armies is in a city that gets culture flipped.

Oh yeah -- I also reloaded yesterday when I forgot I was in a wonde rrace and decided to switch from Monarchy to Democracy. As soon as I started the revolution, I remembered I was going to beat the Inca to Newton's by about 1 or 2 turns, and decided to hit the "undo button."

I dont animate friendly moves and have no problem reloading when I miss an AI sneak attack.

I also admit that culture flips can cause me to reload, but only if it happens early in the game and costs me alot of units (especially an army).
