I just downloaded a demo version of the game (not out yet) and it is pretty good.

Excellent graphics, nice relaxing music, and very good gameplay.
If anyone else wants to try it, get it here:

I've got Setllers II and III (well they are somewhere, I'm not entirely sure where) and I thought they were very good. I never got around to getting Settlers 4.

I tried the demo. Wasn't bad, but it crashed to the desktop without displaying any error messages. :(

Settlers 5 just so far removed from the First Settlers.
I found played the demo amost the day it came out, Dissapointing

At first, it wasn't so bad, but when you actually got to know the game, you discovered some pretty bad flaws.
In my opinion, the "City Center" is just a very rough way of limition your population.

They spoiled it after second one :p

IMO, the settlers series has gone downhill. The first I every played was settlers 3 - i really enjoyed it at the time and bought all the add-on packs etc. I havent been able to play it since because my disk is all scratched up. Anyway, I then got settlers 4, but i found it really dissapointing. I cant really find a good reason not to like it; it was just a bit dry and dull. I was sent the demo for HOK the other day - and I feel the same way. It's ok, but thats all it is - and the demo wasnt really appealing enough to make me care enough to try out the actual game when it comes out later this month.

RTS games in general have gone downhill. No new concepts have been introduced at all!

A demo of the new Empire Earth II was released today.

A lot of the concepts are very similar between the two.

i wasnt really that imporessed by the orgional empire earth to be honest - your probobly right, RTS games have gone downhill. Still, I think there might be some future in games like Rise of Nations, mixing TBS and RTS, or like Rome: Total war: turn-based, but with real-time battle sequences.

I will check out the EE demo soonish when im bored, but i'm not expecting anything too special.

Nope, there's nothing too special about it. Just more 3D and eye-candy.
At least it keeps me busy when I'm bored. ;)
