The Social Policies (Order)

Reading through these threads and similar threads, and maybe it is just me, but I like ultra realism in my civ games. Not in the expense of game play that is turd worthy, but reviewing the policies, it is kinda weird that your civ can have Tradition with Aristocracy and Monarchy bonuses active at the same time as Freedom or Order branches. Doesn't make sense.

I think that Order/Freedom should cancel tradition. Autocracy should cancel Liberty, just so that all three Industrial branches cancel out an ancient one. Keep the three mutually exclusive like they have done of course.

I always interpreted the trees as social evolution of a civilization. That the bonus' were something of a cultural tradition that has become ingrained in your culture over the years. Not necessarily that your nation *always* has a Monarchy because you adopted it in 2000 BC and have since adopted Democracy.

Yeah, cos like with the UK, we have a Monarchy, and Democracy.
And as jagdtigerciv said, the thing like the Monarchy is more like a tradition that we have kept.

Anyways this is slightly going off topic...

So what are peoples opinon of the new Order now that is out? :D

I haven't had that much patch experience yet obviously, but I feel I can stand by what I predicted.

Single first game I ran, I played Rome, my favourite civ, who is an obvious contender for Order with their imperialistic, wide empire-focused unique ability. I went Honor into Piety into Order. First I cleared the entire, massive continent of opposition, bringing Roman order to all. Then I used the large number of happiness bonuses from both the terrain (horse and stone abundant) as well as the policy bonuses with happiness from walls, monuments etc etc to build a massive, continously sprawling, populous empire. The game was ended by absorbing the capitals of the decadent capitalist empires of Germany, Siam and Songhai into the clearly superior Roman-socialist system, bringing peace and order to the world.

Hehe nice.
I have been able to try it properly yet, but in a few moments I am going to play a game (as Russia) and bring all into the Socialist paradise order. :D

But mainly I was just wondering about how people thought the new overall bonus for order, like is the Science bonus useful? Is United Front in times of dire need very effective? And is Communism still awesome practically? :crazyeye:

Just people's opinions in general. :)
