It all depends on whom you are.

I bought it and being totally new to civilization, it helped a great deal. But thats just me, some people say it doesnt tell them stuff they dont already know.

Tassadar5000 is right I also bought it (only 'cos it was half price!) - it's fine if you are just starting out but otherwise the guides / info in the Strategy Articles forum is much better and they are free - what a bargin!!!

You mean the one that showed up half a year ago?!?!?

That was written by a Firaxis flack who also (conveniently) gave the game a very undeserved glowing review in (I think) PC Gaming World. That was before even the first patch when the game was a buggy mess.

He was the guy who in the Strategy Guide said privateers were so great - and that was when they still had a totally useless attack value of ONE!!

So, no, don't waste your money. Read some threads instead.

They can be good if you want to read them away from the computer. They are outdated but most of the info is still gennerally correct.
