The Ultimate AH Thread ...... Animal Husbandry

As for the wine, I really don't understand the link to monarchy.
"No sir, I can't eat those grapes and I certainly won't drink it's juice!" "Yes, you will. If you don't, the king's troops will put you in jail."
"OK. hey, it's not that bad, if you wait long enough before drinking the juice!"

i doubt the king has jails that early. how often do you know constitution before monarchy?

i don't understand why you don't find wine and cows together often. doesn't the king enjoy cheese with his wine?

the fact that you drink one and eat the other together has nothing to do with the fact that one grows near the other ;)
+ you drink wine with fish, game, pork, lamb... too. Nice GP farm, with all those resources :).

When I play France (never really did ) I want cows, pigs, fish, crabs, clams, lambs, wine, in the vicinity. I'll reload until I have all those :).

I wish there were oysters. And I'm sure the French can appreciate those too.

Speaking of the French, what about a frog or snail resource?

Man, you guys are hilarious. Many good posts here. Lol for most of them.

But in all seriousness, a good point was raised. If you don't see any animals in your immediate area, does that prevent you from seeing if you have horses around much sooner?

Also, why can you build stables without the horses resource?

Goat curry. lmao....nice one.

Japan should get extra culture for whale resource... yeah right.

Isn't raw horse a meal in France? with a raw egg on it I think. Cabert will know

sure (well, except me, since I just can't swallow them), but if you want a resource for each kind of seafood, you will have a long list!

And about frogs and snails, there isn't much to eat on a frog (even less on a snail, + it's disguting ;)). So my guess is that it's already included in the normal food you get from any tile.

You must not be French  Frog is alright, but oysters and escargot are just heavenly. And since I also love Japanese food, I demand that seaweed be included as a seafood resource. It's definitely healthy. I wouldn't mind jellyfish also.

They should have just named crabs and clams 'crustaceans' and 'shellfish'.

hmmm lobster....

well, if food ressources are linked to a civ, France would steal everytime England food ressources!!!

Yeah, seaweed is a required resource to build McDonalds.....their "milk"shakes

They eat horse in France, I haven't tried.....in Japan too I heard.

Going to try me some llama this summer in Peru......AND as a throwback to the Conquests scenarios......some Guinea Pig:drool:

Should AH alow pet stores for happiness? or zoos even?

yep, I think horse should give +1 food ;)
It's quite good in fact.

Ahhh.... a proper AH thread, much less confusing than that other one.

Hindu temples should receive +1:) from cows, for providing sacrificial animals. Jewish temples, too, but their bonus obsoletes in 70 AD. On that note, the bonus of pig tiles for Jewish and Islamic empires should be equal to that of a tundra square coated in fallout. Hrm, no crab or clam for the Jews, either. Better make a matzah ball resource.

No a whale should increase the science rate for Japan, and as a by product add +1 health

How about anything that's an aphrodisiac increase the growth of cities, like oysters and wine.

I want a beer resource, not hops or malt or wheat. Just plain beer. It could be made available with monasteries and increase the happiness of colloseums.

You'd think that the cow recourse would start giving unhealthiness once you hit modern due to all the fast food chains now opening up at that time.

Could be incorporated in the new corporations feature of Beyond the Sword. You could have MacDonalds popping up all over the world spreading obesity

Someone made a good point of different combos giving added health or happiness.
Fish + (the new) Potato = Fish 'n chips (+1 happiness with both theatre and colluseum. -1 health)
Cow + Wine = Red wine and meat fondue (+1 happiness under universal suffrage)
Sheep + (new) Potato = Smalahove with akevitt (Smoked & baked sheep's head with strong potato-based spirit, norwegian dish, -1 happiness, gradually turns into +2happiness as you get used to it)
Rice + Fish = Sushi (+1 health, +1 happiness unless city has a supermarket)

Probably the nomadic life is not considered animal husbandry? Humans were nomads for 1000s of years before the agricultural revolution (~13k bc?). Animals were first caged/harnessed/bred after 1 of two things: hunting (as in the Masai) and agriculture (as in plow animals/integrated resources/crop storage).

Traits assign leaders unique benefits from resources indirectly: cheap forges for extra gem :), cheap temples for extra incense :), etc.
