Concerning the new 4/11 hotfix for the flibby bug:

Also if there is more than bugfixes in it (GPs collect artifacts and AI citizen logic improvements), you may send in saves also from the hotfixed version, for two reasons:

- I want to estimate the amount of people interested to participate in this project and thus not exclude people that already installed the hotfix or can't continue their game due to the flibby bug and missing autosaves.
- This is a test round.
- I would guess that the changes don't touch the challenge goal much, neither the GP planting thing nor the AI citizen improvement. You're welcome to give me your opinion on this if it differs :)

I will update the version also in the original post.

The changes (aside from the flibby bug) were so minor as to not affect the game in any dramatic way.

Tried again with a tradition/statecraft start but not generating nearly enough science with four cities across to the south west corner. Looks like the ideal strategy is progress with taking large cities only and annexing asap to build science buildings.

A quick update (Also, for the many people that probably are playing or thinking to play ;): One more week!):

The participation for the moment is not absolutely overwhelming, but enough so that I will consider the test successful and the VP challenge league will start in one or two week s (with the next version probably). Thank you all for the feedback that you already gave, and if there is something that prevented you from participating in the rules/setup of the challenge, now is the time to write it :) If nothing else, I will consider everything fine and more or less stay with the proposals in the original posts.

The rule "no info unspoilered" didn't work completely, ideally people would not even see other players turn without opening spoilers. But ok, I will work out this again for the next challenge , and after all, it's a game. Just again: No matter what turn you finished the game, I'm glad for every submission, don't feel intimidated if you're 100 turns later than anyone else, there's no reason for this. And after all you can blame everything on being a "naturally unlucky person" if nothing else works :goodjob:

This is interesting, but Prince is a bit too easy.....

Thanks for mentioning, I tend however to stay with this difficulty to make the challenge open to everyone, also if that means that for most of the players actively writing in the forum, the AI will be unusually weak. Also, I guess that King would still be too easy for you ;)

To finish, a technical note: Someone sent the save via PM on this forum to me, that's obviously fine, too (I for myself however didn't manage to find the upload button for now, but cleverer people may find this useful :crazyeye:).

Have a good week and be prepared for the next challenges! :king:

Edit: I added a poll for the difficulty settings, with the options I reasonably can consider. This isn't a vote, just to have an idea.

I make the following suggestion regarding difficulty: play on the difficulty level that challenges you without being overwhelmingly difficult.

As it is, I tried the challenge and didn't finish because it turned out to be a "next turn" snoozefest for being too easy. Had I tried the challenge on my usual difficulty level (Immortal+), it would have been much more interesting.

We just have to trust the integrity of our fellow challenge-takers.

The problem with this is just that the whole concept of providing a save then doesn't work.

If there is nobody that finds difficulty 5 to hard, I'd perhaps switch to that difficulty.

Edit: The other idea I had is to give two saves (on difficulties 4 and 7, probably), but this effectively splits the number of players which I would prefer not to. Again, I'd consider it if it effectively doubles the number of players (and now there are already 2 that probably would give it a try on 7 :P). Let's see.

For me at least I love the idea, it's just a rough time of year what with exams in a month and a bit. I am halfway through my attempt, but just have not had time. You might have more luck in July as I suspect I am not alone in bring a student here.

I'm a student, too, so I'm glad (and jealous) that you know your priorities :) Just participate when you find the time.

I would find the 4 and 7 split interesting to get a sense of how much more experienced players can cope with the extra AI bonuses. It would only make me more eager to play at my lower level of confidence as I might pick up some tips for moving up in difficulty levels (5 or 6 is my current comfort level).

I've barely had time too play unfortunately, but I'll try and finish it before times up. On difficulty level, it's definitely too easy, splitting the difficulty seems like a good solution imo.

Ok, so not going to be able to finish because of a glitch that gave me infinite social policies. Other then that though I had quite a bit of fun, looking forward to the next one!

That's a pity, did you report to Github? Especially if no other mods are involved, this shouldn't happen :(

Difficulty will be split then, I am still thinking on the details.
Have fun!

So I reloaded the save before it happened yesterday and it still happened, but then I did so again today and it somehow fixed itself? I have no idea what to even report at this point, if it happens again then I will but for now then I just don't know?

But I guess this means the challenge is back on for me, so there's that I guess!

Weird, but glad to hear that your save isn't broken apparently. If it appears again, it certainly does no harm to report it with save + logs to github, but for the moment, good that it works :)

So, I just realized I had red modpack installed aswell, so I'm not sure how that'll work. Anyway, 364 was my time, was going for fun rather then efficiency cause I didn't care about ranking. Thank you for posting this challenge, I had a lot of fun and I look forward to whatever might be next!

Don't read the spoiler if you haven't finished!
Spoiler :
So I decided to just stupidly attack everyone all game, just cause I could. I started authority then went fealty/rationalism and rushed religion with god of war. I picked up hero worship and scholarship first, then thrift and evangelism (didn't realize it was bugged) and then I reformed with jesuit not realizing how expensive the building were, I probably would've picked something else if I could go back. I also might've gone statecraft instead of fealty because I ended up allied with most of the city states, but whatever! Anyways, I think that's about it.

The submission deadline is over, thanks to all the participants! As there was a bit of discussion, you will be able to see even who settled inland and who went to the coast. Here are the results (and in the original post as well):

Congratulations to Diverman (and all other participants as well)!

If you didn't see it, the first challenge of the season is already online and ready to play, don't miss it out. You will be able to play it either on Prince or Immortal, and Gazebo threw in even a great prize for the winner of the season!
