The World: As Seen through the Eyes of the Greeks

I'd say mostly plains, with some hills and desert for the interior of Iran. Mountians and hills in the west (Zagros), east (Hindukush and stuff), and perhaps some stretches here and there, like immediately south of the Caspian. The Greeks likely had vague ideas where the smaller ranges were anyway, at least 'fore Alexander.

Wow.:) Maybe somebody could make a mod out of this.:D The Ancient World, perhaps?;)

No worries, everybody. It's the weekend, so I'll be able to get up the PTW version, and the new and improved version 4.:)

stgelven:
How does the game go?:)

Perhaps the TAM crew should look into this map.:D

Unless you count me (I'm a mod at the TAM forum at CDG, but haven't participitated in making the mod beyond being a beta-tester and contributor of general feedback and suggestions), I haven't seen anyone from the TAM crew lately. Try PM'ing Thamis.

 oops! That's right! I made it a "clean map". A Mapmaking terminology meaning "no resources"...Why don't you go into the editor, use the scatter resources tool, and play. I'll work on actual placement this weekend...

Sorry, stgelven.

 I'm worjking on a Peloponnesian War Scenrio! You can see it in the 2 threads I've posted about it...One got to 48 pages. :crazyeye: Hmm...Well, if you want to make your own scenario, you can, I suppose...;) Anyways, If you want to use this map, it really shouldn't be for a Peloponnesian War Scenario. It wouldn't have enough space to fit Athens and Sparta!:crazyeye: If you wanna use this map, make something like an "Ancient World Mod"...Of course, it's your scen, so you do what you want. If you want to use this map for your scenario (Hopefully the mod I suggested, as I've been working with a team on that scenario for months!:() then you can use it.:)

Sorry guys. Been gone 1.5 days...I'll get on it soon.:)

Soory guys. I forgot, in the midst of the Peloponnesian War. I promie you it'll be up today.:)

Using the suggestions I could see, I added Eastern Mountains, nixed the jungles in favor of plains and some scattered hills/deserts, and scattered some resources.:D

A definite step in the right direction. Still a bit sparse on terrain variation in some places (southern Gaul, perhaps most noticeably), and the Persian start is still missing, but on the whole quite nice.

I'd still like the Zagros a bit further west, a some mountain tiles interspersed in them.

But as said, it's coming together nicely enough on the whole.

Yeah, I take a look at version 1, and it's really come along.:) Any other suggestions?:)

Italy is still a bit messed up (no Appenines, no Po Valley plain).

A bit more mountains in eastern Anatolia/Armenia, perhaps.

Add a couple hills on Crete.

The Sinai should rather be desert.

Perhaps a pair of mountains at Gibraltar/Tanger to represent the Pillars of Hercules.

This may be interesting, BTW; a reconstruction of Hecataeus' view of the world:
