There needs to be a Combat Log, or the combat text needs to not disappear so fast

No I am not talking about the notification log, which doesn't show any useful information.

Yes I know you can disable quick combat to look at the agonising detail of each combat exchange which gets as old, as quickly, as it did in Civ IV.

Doing a google search for this, it looks like this problem has been brought up before but never addressed. I am not aware of any mod that gives you a combat log.

It would be really really useful, short of the good balance SMAC struck with its quick animations, rather than Civ 4 & 5s everything-happens-in-a-single-blur-how-da-fuq-did-i-just-lose-all-my-tanks.

The really insane thing is that the current quick combat implementation SKIPS nukes. It just outright doesn't tell you that you've been hit by a nuke. You're left to play detective work on your own by looking for fallout.

I agree with Idleray. That would also cut down on the need for animation-on players to see every single attack.

As it is, I can hardly see the white text when it appears, let alone before it disappears.

There ought'a be a setting for the delay in Options. Or an option to transfer the notes to Notifications so you can click on it and it sends you to the location.

Also, the Notifications log needs to be searchable. I rarely look at the log, but when I do it's usually for an event that happened several turns ago.
