1. Biological Warfare Missile / Anti-Biological Warfare Promotion... even with the added +100% vs everything added the last patch, this unit is still more than 30% weaker than the guided missile, costs more than the guided missile, and has less evade chance. The only bonus is that it is collateral (which is a good bonus I grant that), but then what is the point of the Anti-Biological Warfare Promotion. The promotion does not grant added protection against the collateral damage. The +75% is seriously negated by the -15% combat strength (as not only does the -15% affect the base combat strength of the unit making it much much worse, it takes away from the +75% vs Bio units when fighting them AND as a said even if you didn't have it a 28 strength Bio unit does nothing compared to the 40 strength cheaper guided missile). On top of all that it needs a building that gives -1 happy and -1 health just to be built. Basically the missile seems worthless and the promotion seems to always do more harm than good.

2. Deflector Shielding.... what is the point of this end end end game building giving additional city defense and bombardment defense. It says it doesn't work against gunpowder based units and checking the XML, every unit that can be built at that time has the ignore building defense, gunpowder based ability checked.

Can someone explain these two things to me.

Thanks!

I have to agree with the biological warfare missile and promotion. The addition of the +100% modifier vs land units last patch also a) didn't really help much, and b) doesn't even make sense as it primarily increases the damage it dose vs. a single target which is not the purpose of biological warfare.

In my Thomas' War mod, or at least with the next bug patch I will release soon, I edited the biological warfare unit and promotion to function much more in line with what I saw as their intended use (the only missile unit that can do collateral damage) while also making them seem useful. I a) removed the silly +100% vs land unit modifiers and instead slightly increased its base strength and gave it a natural +100% collateral damage modifier and changed the total number of units it causes collateral damage to from 8 to 12. Secondly, I removed the +75% vs biological warfare units from the promotion and instead turned it into a 75% resistance to collateral damage. I feel this thematically meets the function of these units far more than what is currently in the game.
