Things i like to see changed in civ 6

Hello,

Let me first say i thinx civ 5 brave new world is a great game and i even thinx its better then civ 4 because it has a better combat system and a AI that plays a little bit like a human but stills act rational and where you can get alliances. But there are some things il game concepts wich i like to see changed and i hope they change it in civ 6. So developers. I will talk about 3 major concepts: diplomacy , combat , economics building cities.

Note that i am a dutch person who has bad english grammar so excuse me for my bad writing. I can only write good in french spanish and italian.

A Diplomacy


1 make the AI recognize your military strenght and demands

In civ 5 you could demand From AI like give me youre luxury and THEY WOULD NEVER DO IT Even if you have massive military and they only have few units it was silly.. They did regonise military strenght in the sence they would not atack you and they might be afraid but will never give in demands.

Same goes for demands like dont settle cities near me , stop sending missionaries dont spy on me. It woud be interesting if the A actually said yes if you had lets say double or more the military then them.

currrently this options only give a negatife modifier it doesnt do anything.. Would like to see that change. If you have a higher militarty then them and you ask them to not send missionaries they should say no just like the player would to prevent war..

And if the AI lies to you and does settle or send missionaries while they said they would do it. you should be able to actually declare war withouoth penalty in civ 6 (cousil belli)

2 Change the warmonger penalty currently it is to sensitive

Currently capturing one city can give you a major penalty on standard map wich is massive.

They should give capturing a city that isnt a capital(sparta of greece capital is athens) Same goes for city states minor penalty for capturing it. Becaue you allready get a massive penalty at civs that protect them . Only capturing a capital should give you a major penalty. because its bassicly the way to win domination victory if you capture 2 capitals its clear that you are gearing towards world domination and the world needs to stop you.

Currently city states just take place at the map and as a result i allways lower them because if you capture one its olmost game over because the whole world hates you. This needs to change only civilizations that protect it or have influence with it should be angry. Thinx about small nations that get atacked not everyone gets angry only the ones that proclaim that are their allies.

Capturing one city of a civilization is still a warmonger act but it shouldnt give you the label of" major threat to the world". Capturing someone capital is a sign of conquering someone taking control of a country. So if you capture 2 capitals the world should unite gainst you its logic. But currently it can happen if you just capture 2 cities of a empire with 5 cities. Doesnt make any sence

warmonger penalty is to much. Give penalty for capturing a capital because thats what you need for winning domination.


B Combat


1 change the combat strenght of range units so they are vulnerable to melee atacks.


currently you can just spam compasite bowman and crosbowman and win a domination victory it doesnt require combat skills. Why because even if a melee units atacks you can still counter because melee units lose as much health as a range unit if he atacks result range unit can counter at his turn and win..

Especially with the one unit per tile range units are extremly powerfull so they should have a penalty and that is vulnerable to melee units.
This is something vanilla actually did right knights could kill a crosbowman in one shot

2 REMOVE INSTANT HEAL


This is the most broken thing of civ 5 i still dont know why its still around. Nothing is more frustrating than when you get a bad luck when youre unit didnt finish of a unit at one HP and it suddenly heals back 50 HP and kills you.

However it sometimes makes combat easier.. You get lucky and A catapult isnt destroyed by the city range atack while it should lucky dice roll. You use instant heal and as a result you can take the city with the extra damage of the catapult while you should be punished for poor tactics.


C Economy and other game concepts

1 change espionage

I thinx espionage is really bad implented. Currently you dont get advantages of beeing the tech leader because everyone is stealing from you.

This shouldnt be bad if you could counter it with youre own spies but you dont. it seems like counter espionage doesnt work. i've had lv 3 spies who kept failing to kill a enemy spy.
The enemy spies are at a advantage because its more likly they succeed and if they do they get promoted so its harder to kill them... while defensive spies dont do a good job they often dont kill enemy spies.

The spie buildings olso dont help against enemy spies it only reduce the time it takes to steal technologies.. Thats bad.. These buildings should increase the change of youre own spies capturing a enemy spy. For example : increase counter espionage by percentage..

Olso the only way to make youre spies level up is stealing someone technology or killing enemy spies. I thinx couping a city state succefully should allow youre spie to level up why? Because you have the risk of losing him just like stealing technology if he succeeds he ranks up.

2 Change science victory


I thinx the science victory in civ 5 is way to easy its usally a back up for players if they cant win a other victory. There should be more space parts and it should require more production to make it. Currently you only need 5 space ship parts and you win.

This is something civ 4 did right.You needed a lot of space ship parts and it did require a lot of production. It would olso be interesting to see different parts require different resources and not all of them require alluminium but a other rare resource in the modern era.

They should olso change the tech tree so you dont get 3 space ship parts in one technology( SS booster). Each part requires different technology and is on different part of the tech tree this makes its harder to achieve it.

With new movement costs ranged units appear to be very powerful again. We'll se how it will turn out.
Instant heal saved me a few times, but I'd dismiss it as unrealistic.
I like stealing technology, it makes sense that your spies are able to do that. But it should have more diplomatic weight if you catch a spy, giving the other civ a really bad conscience or making them angry.

Civ6 fixes this I think. In civ6, the warmonger penalty will depend on the type of war (surprise war, casus belli war). Also, the warmonger penalty only lasts while you hold the city. When you make peace, you can lose the warmonger penalty if you cede the city back to its original owner.

problem with espionage is that youre counter espionage isnt that good. they should increase the change of youre spie catching enemy spie.

Wow that actually makes sence. People will hate you if you invade for example small country and occupy it see germany world war 2 imagine if france or england declared war and germany surrenderd after a year and removed their forces from poland and give it back to the polish autoritisch

germany shouldnt be constantly atacked because he atacked poland years ago.. No only if they occupy it.
