These are just a few things I couldve bought instead of wasting it on Spore AND the one failed expansion.

1) Groceries for the month
2) A week's worth of take-out for my parents (I'm a sweetheart ;));
3) A low-priced hooker for 30 mintues;
4) Two pairs of basketball shoes;
5) Workout clothes;
6) Seahawks tickets for 3 games (or Mariners tickets for 5, since the Mariners suck SOOOOO much);
7) 30 crappy NES games (or 10 good ones);
8) An entire collection of Sega Saturn games;
9) An abandoned orbital satilite or;
10) A brand new shiny PS3 (or two used ones).

15. Porn

17. The five games Spore rips off.

@PreLynMax, those must be some expensive workout clothes if they cost as much as a PS3

18. Civ V
19. Civ IV
20. Civs I-III
21. A week's worth of gas
22. The Illinois Senate seat (sorry, couldn't help it)
23. Alot of books
24. World Peace

My face when this game is all but forgotten and civ is getting a sequel.

EA shot themselves in the foot ruining spore like that. problem is they will never even notice or care that they could have had a great title and been known to release more than refried dog crap.

Just think of all the francises Electronic Arts have ruined by taking them over.

Maxis (victims: SimCity series, Spore. The Sims became a game AFTER Maxis was bought by EA (2000), but still thought of by Maxis guru Will Wright.*)
Bullfrog (victims: Theme Hopsital)
Westwood (victims: Command and Conquerer series (C&C3 was crap, though RA and RA2 redemed EA extremely little)).

So many companies EA has screwed over because of thier corporate greed, and as long as those crappy games sell (and they will, because EA is a major company, and they "stole" some big titles), EA dosen't give a damn.

I'm not saying every company should constantly pump out an award winning game. It's what EA did to get those big game titles, and how they failed to continue thier legacy. What I suggest EA had done was kept Spore a game fun to play, but add some complexity into it. It's much better for a game to be overcomplicated than dumbed down.

*At least EA did something right with The Sims 2

@DroopyTofu I usually spend $300-400 on clothes anyway.

I could have paid someone to write my essay that I am not doing right now...

An iPod!

Regarding Bullfrog, I think the much worse crime was what they did to syndicate (no future for one of the greatest games ever). And regarding Westwood, I think killing the Dune strategy game series was far worse than what EA did to C&C, but admittedly I was never a huge C&C fan.

Give us Theme Hospital 2 !!!
