Thinking of creating a new comic book.

I was recently thinking about writing a new comic book. I have written short stories and have some artistic ability. I have a few ideas I've been thinking about.

What do you think really works good in comics? What are your favorite comics?

Can't really help with comics since i never read much of them, and generally did not like them either. But i will be following this thread.

Depends on the type of comic. This is almost like asking "what works really good in movies". Are you thinking more along the lines of a child oriented funny, lighthearted comic (like the old Disney Uncle Scrooge comics which I actually like), a more adult oriented comic or a graphic novel, more popular mainstream style comic books (standard superhero fare), something in between or entirely different? What's the genre and type?

I was thinking graphic novel. Something with a few main characters, ordinary people doing extraordinary things, set in the future.
