This game is trash

The only trash I see is the talk around here...
The game is not perfect, but it is running well for what is very likely THOUSANDS of purchasers. The people who congregate on the internet to discuss games and gaming issues are a tiny minority of consumers...and are some of the most rabid, finicky, opinionated and full-of-themselves types to boot. So yes, there are some significant problems, but no, not all are affected; few of the reviewers have mentioned problems, for instance, so I suspect they are playing the game OK.
I concur that there are issues to fix, but bad-mouthing a product will do absolutely nothing to encourage the developer to fix the issues. We all saw MOO3 killed for similar reasons, i.e. people jumping on the "game is garbage" bandwagon to the point where the developers pretty much slunk off into the sunset after taking days and days of abuse on the web.
I feel for those who have difficulty with the game, but the constant negative harping is unhelpful and actually counter-productive. IMHO.

Gunner:

First off, I highly doubt problems are only happening to a tiny minority of people. Just look at the number of people in the technical support area. I had no idea Civ 4 was coming out, but when I saw it on the shelves -- I picked it up. Had I any idea that the game was coded as poorly as it is, I would have left it alone.

Be that as it may, I've never had a game this difficult to work with -- nothing even close. I still cannot play standard size maps on a 2.6 GHz AMD64, 1 Gig of mushkin ram 2-2-2-7, A 6600GT graphics card, and an audigy 2. That is ridiculous. First off those are all industry standard companies. Nvidia, Creative Labs, Mushkin, AMD. ??? What were the beta testers using?

And to have that many problems with ATI cards? Thats laughable. How about labeling the CDs incorrectly just from the start? How about the EU players who are being asked to stick in the correct CD when its on ONE DVD disk?

Fact is this game was rushed out the door with MANY problems.

If you spend 60 dollars on a game, stick it in the drive and cant get past the loading bar -- its really frustrating and you should expect people to be upset.

All fine and well unless you take into account the Tens (maybe hundreds) of thousands of copies that have shipped to date to ppl who just dont have the money to keep thier PC's on the bleeding edge of technology.

So you think that giving the games makers a Roasting for such a complete Cowboy job isn't gonna teach them a lesson? Get Real you tit.
