Nice StackofDoom you got there. I started a thread the other day about large SoDs.

Ahh, yes. The enemy stack of doom. :D

I guess you just moved in your 100 artilleries, bombarded each infantry to 1 hp, then moved in your tanks, making each one elite in the process. Enemy losses=50 infantry, own losses=0.
:suicide: :rocket: :rocket3: :tank:

Did you rename all of your cities to say (Persian) or did you edit your civ3mod.bic?

It's an option under preferences. Don't remember which one, try em all :)

I am about 4 turns from Mahattan project, so i'll probably just nuke it.

You need to discover space flight and sattelites to build tactical nukes and ICBMs. Manhatten Project only allows you to build nukes. There are more techs to go.

Since you have Mech Infantry and artillery, just bomb the stack, and then surround it with mechs. The infantry will attack and get beaten badly.

That's a pretty impressive Zulu force considering the remaining size of their civ (they are Yellow correct?)

However, the SoD(tm) can be dealt with as described above, and soon the remainder of that half of the continent will be yours.

Bombard the suckers, a lot. Then move in your strongest defensive troops(mech inf if you got it) and let them attack. If they aren't attacking then bring out your tanks and let some fists fly.

I'm persian, Zulu is yellow, Dark green is greece, and light blue is rome.

I knew the zulu had a powerful military but this is crazy lol. I will eventually wipe them out and control my continent.

I love bombardment. I've almost worn out the B key on two keyboards now.

Not if you have a LOT of artillery. Of course, you do bring one downside of Civ3 which is it's speed. Not that I mind :)

LOL. The enter key on mine is almost worn out, I think. It sticks sometimes.

Yeah, bombardment rocks, especailly with bombers. They seem quite accurate. Iused to have 15-16 artillery pieces, but disbanded them all for some reason. Kinda stupid, but now with modern armor it doesn't matter all that much, Right now. Zululand has nothing but stinky infantry and outdated tanks, so on the attack I'm doing fine. On the defense I'm doing okay. The bombers are helping a bit too.

Go into Preferences and switch on "Colour-Blind Help"...

Do you know how freakin long it would take to bombard ALL those units!? THATS why I hate civ3....

Exactly. It would take forever. How long would it take to activate all your tanks from various cities to mass next to that stack to attack it? Forever. That's why "rally points" are needed. It also looks like the AI still can't figure out how to use artillery offensively - nothing like hurling waves and waves of infantry to their deaths. Also unrealistic, unless there is some Happiness or other penalty on that civ.

The casual way people talk about "nuking" this and "nuking" that proves again the lack of realism in the game. There has never been a nuclear strike on such a force; the political, and other, ramifications would be immense - and that includes the radiation poisoning of your own nearby troops especially if they then attack into that area.

So, nukes in Civ 3 remains Fantasy nonsense for those who like "Big Exploshuns".

But Civ3 is about possible history. What if Hitler had developed an atomic bomb? Would he have used it on cities or military units first? I don't think that nuking military units in itself is "unrealistic."

I do think, though, that there is a lack of a reasonable "mutually assured destruction" in the game. So I, like you, changed the Manhattan project to something that gives you 2 science advances.

Actually, i don't remember who it was.. i think it was russia. But they detonated a nuclear devise then held a mock war in that very same area just after the explosion. They wanted to see the effects on there troops after such a blast was used.
After the test was done, they concluded that using a nuclear device ( of that time btw) was not worth it and a danger to there military.

Unfortunately with the devices now currently available, tatical nukes could be used with little to no effect on the invading troops. Thats the reason the US carrier groups and the ARMY have them.
