Where is the .ini file located? I'm playing C3C and having a resolution problem. I can't find the ini file to alter it.

Hi pajarito79,

It's in C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\, called conquests.ini. It might be in the ..\Atari\ folder, depending.

If there isn't one in that folder, you can create one in notepad and save it as a .ini.

And don't worry about having missing entries, the program will append has needed. So just stick your Video Mode or KeepRes line in, and don't worry about the rest of it.

I'm pretty sure that the .ini isn't created until you actually start a game. So if you're having resolution problems and can't even start one, you won't find one.

Thanks for the response guys, but my problem persists.

Specifically, when I launch C3C the menu screen is larger than my monitor. When I scroll my mouse cursor to the edge of the monitor, it scrolls the screen around, so I can see the entire screen, just not all at once.

I created a conquests.ini file in C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Civilization III Complete\Conquests, and tried various Video Mode settings, as well as KeepRes 1 and 0. Nothing changed a thing.

Any other suggestions? I miss Civ3.

What is your resolution size? It has to be 1024 x 768 for the game (or bigger).
