Sheesh, I was just leaving OT after a full day of arguing about things I know absolutely nothing about, when I remembered what I had in mind when I first logged in:

Ive got a nice wood coffee table. A carpenter once told me that its walnut, if IIRC (or cherry). Anyway, I put something hot on it, and it stained the finish. Theres a big fuzzy white cloudy patch on it. Ive used the regular over the counter wood polishing products, but I cant get it out. Im sure I dont have to sand the thing down and refinish it, right? What can I buy that will get rid of it?

How about putting a coaster over the mess and call it a day.You have to keep forgetting about it all of your life though.

Note:This suggestion is only applicable to slackers.

Oh come on,Bozo is not that insecure to have books on the table to show his intellectual prowess,or does he?:mischief:

I can't believe you'd fight Reality and think that your coffee table can last longer than it's due. Coffee tables stain, get over it.

(I think you'll have to sand the table down and revarnish it, actually.)

a picture/diagram might help us to understand the problem more....

maybe you could just talk to the stain, try and understand its reasons for staining and then you could come to some sort of arrangement, you get it unstained thursday through to sunday and the stain gets it the rest of the time.

Symmetrically place additional stains and create a patterned coffee table.

You could allways claim that it is a stain that was created during an exceptionally passionate moment of love making. Then say that if they want to hear the whole story they should talk later. Then, all you have to do is hope they forget. :)

Sounds like you got moisture in a wax finish. You don't have to sand it but buffing it out should work. If you go through the touble of that do the whole thing and refinish it.

Don't refinish it, scars are cool and build character and create memories. :)

Why do you care? It's just a material posession, so you shouldn't care at all about it. Why waste money on it? Why are you even working enough to be able to afford material crap like a coffee table and its cleaning products? Another slave to materialism you seem to be, and a hypocritical one at that.
