I had given up on Civ IV because of the CTD's and slow downs with the large maps. When I heard there was finally a patch I decided to give it one more try.
After installing the patch I was pleasantly suprised with smooth game play.
Then, after several hours fo play, I had to save the game and move on to other things.(Job, meals, spouse, etc...) Then came the dissapointment of trying to load the saved game. The saved game either freezes while reloading or loads and the system is extremely S....L....O....W.
I give up....for good on this game. It now holds the honor of being the most expensive (in terms of money and time) coaster I own
