I want to ask what are the things which affect the throne room ?

Looks like the components of higher score - cities, wonders, happy citizens - all contribute to triggering throne room upgrades.

What's the point of having the Throne Room? I switched it off at an early stage because it seems to be just a sideline issue that does not affect the score.
