I heard that the Civ game sold in china has a different leader for the china civ. I wonder if they could post it for download?

So how can we who do not have That other China leader get a hold of him.

And who is he???

Edit:

We have strangely similar sig's ;)

Mao isn't a good choice, but in reality not many people could name another great Chinese leader exce[t Mao's enemy Chaing KieShek, and most don't even know him (I can't even spell it). It has alot do do with language differance, names don't fit in with European phonetics and thus are not remembered easily. Oh well, but I voted to boot him anyways.

China has countless great leaders throughout history, pick anyone of them will be better than mao.

Any emperor that unified the country, or bring wealth ot the empire, or anything. I think that, in 4000 years of history, we can found at least one :)

Okay, here's a few suggestions:

Shihuangdi (first emperor of China)
Xuanzong
Empress Wu (Wu Zhao. Players of Civ II may remember her.)
Yongle
Taizong (also known as Li Shimin)
Kangxi
Chiang Kai-shek (written in Pinyin as Jiang Jieshi)

None of these have the same kind of name recognition as Mao Zedong has, aside from Chiang Kai-shek, but then Catherine the Great is probably less well-known than Stalin, but that didn't stop them from dropping Stalin (who, like Mao, should never have gotten in in the first place.)
Those with more knowledge of Chinese history than I have would probably point to some of those and say, "What are you, crazy? That would be a terrible choice, because. . . ." But then, that's what this debate is about. Those who don't like my options are free to tell us whom they would prefer. (Or defend Mao, I suppose, if they can.)

I though they had Lenin, not stalin in civ2 (i dont remember these things anymore). I Think lenin actually would be a good leader for russia because he is stil recognized as a good man. BTW thanks for the suggestions. I think ill make the poll this weekend.

It was Lenin in Civ II, but it was Stalin in the original Civ. Even as far back as the creation of Civ II, they had the sense to drop the evil dictator and replace him with a warmer and fuzzier dictator. ;) But somehow, Mao has remained all this time. A lot of people don't care, apparently, but I, for one, think it's time for him to go.

Mao murdered tens of millions of his own countrymen, and his totalitarianist rule is still effecting the country is extrmely negative ways. Get him out of there. Putting Hitler on the game would definity offend the Jews, so why are they putting him in the game??

Ok, I'm a new member but I'm a big big big Civilization fan for the last 10 years. And I'm of Chinese descent. I want Mao out as soon as possible too!!! He is not a good representative of Chinese greatness...

Qidai and Loaf Warden already mentioned the name of my favorite Chinese ruler: Emperor Tang Taizong (whose real name was Li Shimin). He was known for his wisdom, charisma, strength of character, military prowess, ability to employ capable ministers, etc. His leadership built a strong foundation for the Tang dynasty -which later proved to be China's second Golden Age...
