tick tack tick tack - feed me, Seymore! FEED ME!!!

so true! Very often I feel like saying "Hey, what are you doing, why are you turning your scout around? Get the GH, explore the map for christs sake! Heal the wounded. You know there are barbs, right?" Or build-orders - Gee, c'mon! :p

So true! :)

I also find myself watching videos again that I saw already, trying to locate good city spots, thinking of tactics how I would deal with the barbs, ...

Speaking of barbs, I was just thinking of the civ 4 deity barb challenge (was posted by Kossin on this site), and was wondering if something like that would ever happen in Civ6. So far the barbs we have seen were certainly annoying, but not dangerous at all. Although in the germany lets play there was apparently a barb siege to the Scythian capital...but what could happen if barbs really surrounded your city?

Raging Barbarians; with the game modified so instead of you (or the AI) having an advantage over barbs ala Civ5, you have a malus. Instead of barb penalty vs a city, they get a bonus. :D

It's how I've been playing Civ5 for months, now. Fewer walks in the park. :)

I think that's great, one thing that bothers me a bit in the game now is how easy it seems to scout the world with your first scout(s). If barbarians are more dangerous, scouting should be more interesting, there should be more value in making other choices than scouting as much as possible as early as possible, and the map discovering game should last longer and influence the game for a longer time. If barbarians are more dangerous, it also means you need more involvement in an area to be able to settle, or to defend your tiles, and I think that's also great because it means you're less likely to go all-in with either expanding or building yourself up with almost no military, unless you created a really good situation for that first.

It could also play a role in preventing a player from gobbling up another very early, so that it is less easy to snowball from an early conquest. (well the current diplomacy system seems good to that end too)

They've said there is no 'raging barbarians' option any more - because that's become the default. The devs have said that barbarians are intended to be more of a challenge this time around.

I totally agree with you... The discussions have been becoming stale / weird lately. Even with the First Look videos, there is discussion about it for like a day then back to the weird and mundane. We need much more info. It's not like we have to worry about spoilers or anything. There is a lot of info that we still have no idea about or only vague ideas at most. Because of that, there is nothing but wild speculation, some of which is becoming really far-fetched.

I'm 39, have a 1 year old daughter (who I will try to get into Civilization) and I am currently going to school full-time (Thank you GI Bill). Interestingly, I am taking US History 2, Anthropology 101, Sociology 101, and Astronomy 101. All of which makes me think of Civilization, so they don't help to distract me one bit.

Glad to know I'm not the only one suffering from this (civ addiction).. I feel for you man, my wife is amazed by how can I spend this much time reading about a game and is fearful of what will happen when it gets released (I'm 29 years old myself but LOVE games especially civ)

I'm right there with you guys. 30 and on honeymoon in Hawaii and I couldn't help but wake up thinking, if a new civ is going to be released, it should be out already....then the mild disappointment that nothing was released.

I'm trying not to be too concerned about lack of info, but it feels like they must be behind. I think the game mechanics revealed are fundamentally sound and interesting and so rationally I don't think it'll be Civ 5 vanilla, but the lack of info is starting to make me wonder. Only one month to go. I'm trying to get all affairs in order before 10/21, haha.

See, there's the problem. Shoulda married another Civ fan, like me.

I was worried this threat would be awful... but then it is wonderful :).

I'm embarrassed to admit how often when trying to fall asleep, I "count sheep" by brainstorming early game-stuff and utilizing unique districts.

Well... sure :)

The things we've seen are already better than Civ5 vanilla. And no amount of pre-release qa could compete with real-world player testing, so surely significant polishing will come after release.
Should have been more precise and say 'really unpolished'. With a good early game and a mess of an end game.

That would be a nightmare, and then DLCs and expansions to bring the proper endgame^^ I don't expect that though. If it happens I don't buy anything after^^ It's important the endgame is really sound since a lot of what you do in civ is supposed to have meaning in the long run and up to the end.

I'm 65 years young (or is that OLD?).

And you're not even the oldest one doing this! I've always been a gamer. As a kid I used to give my brothers Avalon Hill board games that I wanted to play [as Christmas presents]. Civ is by far my favorite game ever, and I've never looked forward to a game like I do this one. Fortunately for me, my wife is going out of town with her sister and some friends for a girl's weekend on 10/21! Guess I'll try to find something to keep me busy while she's gone. :)

That's awesome! Yea, I had a ton of AH games back in the 70s.

Civ is the greatest for sure.

I normally don't get hyped up on a game before release, and avoid reading too much about it. I like to go in cold, but I admit I have watched some Quill Let's plays and a few of the nation introductions on Youtube. But I haven't done any research on detailed game play changes. So I still don't know exactly how things like districts will work (don't tell me). I prefer to learn in game. I've already cheated enough as is by watching the youtube videos. I still think it's better to go in cold and get the satisfaction of learning the game as you play.

The first time you always remember whether it be with video games or girls, not that I'm comparing the two. :) I still have fond memories of my first time playing many games, and struggling at that. It's actually more fun when you aren't as good and learning the game. I still remember vividly how bad I sucked at World of Warcraft when starting, as I had no experience with MMO's. So while I'm very hyped up for this game, I will refrain from learning more about it.

Good news - september 29th we get what we are waiting for - complete info on civ 6 as a whole from all the guys that got early access today!
Where is this from? Sounds too good to be true...
