If your going to war this turn have achat with who you going to war with and try to get as much of his techs and gold by ofering gpt aslong as youn go to war that turn you will end up not paying anything but reciving everything in the deal.

And that will be the last time anyone will sign gpt deals with you. You take a rep hit and the AI civs might not be as willing to vote for you. They will also offer you worse deals than before. I think being able to buy something the turn you need it for gpt for the entire game (instead of waiting until you get the lump sum) is better than getting some small benefit and ruining your rep for the rest of the game.

I did say it was for when there was only you and 1civ so if this war will wipe them out then why not.
Mybe i should had said it was best used in a modern war when you are slightly behind but with engouh gold to upgrade you esisting unites to the new standerd.

If there's only one other country, why not using nukes? Who will dislike that? Specially if it is a bigger country! Of course in modern era!
