I was up in the Niagara area for business early this week and spent a couple of nights at the casinos and nudie bars (The Sundowner and Private Eyes). I was pretty surprised to find out that you dont tip the girls at the bars there. Evidently the only way the girls make their money is through "lap dances" in a private room or champagne room.

Im every place I've been in the states the girls work for tips on stage, usually $1 from a patron every couple of minutes, and the lap dances are gravy on top of that. In my state, Pennsylvania, it used to be illegal to have fully nude strippers in a business that served alcohol, hence pasties & g strings. Luckily that remnant of our authoritarian past has recently been repealed.

Mexico is like the wild west and half the time you're hoping the stripper wont kill you or have her brother kidnap you, but otherwise its pretty much the same as the US (except the morals and prices are alot lower south of the border).

Anyway, just wondering what the tipping customs for strippers are in your region of the world. Please no moralizing or sermonizing.

I've never been in an actual strip club itself but from what I hear the 'Gentlemen' mere pay for the dances. As far as I'm aware the strippers there only do private dances but I'm unsure.

The only places I've been are clubs whereby the strippers have moved in for the night. They generally take £10 from the booth, fitting as many of you in the booth as possible to lower costs, and they move around in a circle. They'll cover every booth in a night and towards the end they do "one on one" dances for £20. This was some time ago though.

The closest thing to a strip club I've been to was a place in Manchester which I forget the name of. It's more akin to a Hooters than a strip club though. Tight Brits that we are the girls behind the bar don't expect to be tipped. Although they do what they can to make you want to tip them.

I remember one lad who bought his beer and the girl asked if he wanted to change or if she could keep it. He replied "you keep it love, in fact, have another pound". So there you have it, a big student tip for a girl used to working for footballers and businessmen. £1.40.

It's been about 10 years since I've been to a strip club in the Dallas, Texas area. The city council enacted policies that pushed out all the mid-range strip clubs (aka the goods ones), so now all that is left are the high-end ones with no real fun except in the VIP rooms or the low-end ones were avoiding getting shot is the highlight.

Back in the day, though, the dancers at the mid-range clubs were moving to the double-hip $2 tip. If you tipped the customary dollar, the dancer would swing her other hip around obviously expecting a second dollar. Table dances (the clubs dared not call them Lap Dances) were in the $5-$20 range depending on the club, the dancer, the time of day, and your perceived level of intoxication.

I have a few friends that work/ed in a stirp club (not all dancers tho) And yes, the $1 tip for the stage dance is the going rate, but they don't make there money like that, that is almost for show. As you said already, most money is made by table dances.

I never heard of any girl not taking a tip?

There are 2 strip bars on Lundy's Lane... And one on Clifton Hill.

Never went into them...

in my state they do allow and want tips, but the bulk of their money comes from lap dances and private room whorage. The strippers that make the most money are the ones that look underage. There are always creepy old pedos that will pay them for lap dances upon lap dances, and to sit on their lap and talk real innocent and crap like that. Its really gross.

Why are you wasting your money at a strip club anyway?

Good point, if watching girls dance floats your boat get out to a club. Ruebens in Leigh is nice :smug:

I went there three times, all when under the age of 18 (the age where you can officially get in them). Once its actually legal for you to go into one, it goes from exciting and cool to pathetic and wierd to go to them. That's my theory at least.

Clubs are nice. Its pretty much like a constant lapdance these days and you dont have to pay.

True, thank god for Xtina and the liberalisation of women :D

It actually depends where you are in Mexico for example what goes in Manzanillo
will probably go in TJ too because Manzanillo has a red light district....but It def. won't go in a place like Colima (Hell in a few months all the strip clubs will be closed it Colima   ....oh well thats what they get for letting the mexi-neo-cons in)

That could just be that bars policy.

You can tip on stage here.

In my neck of the woods we have about quite a few "juice bars" and one particular one that lost its liquor license.Funny that when you can't sell alcohol but have to ask the patron to buy one from a store and then come back and pay the establishment inorder to drink it.

The tip is not mandatory around here and most of the women in the skin-trade make most of the money by lap-dances.Tips are only to keep them around you for your own amusement and to prevent them to accompany the other patrons.

There's a company that has absolutely rocked over the last 12 months.
VCG Holding Corp. (PTT) has gone up 7x in the last 12 months, good recurring revenue model and is only 16x 2007 earnings.

Earnings report yesterday.
Expects fiscal 2007 net income of 50 cents a share, on
revenue of $40.8 million. Sees 2008 earnings of 72 cents
a share and 2009 earnings of 97 cents a share.

Spoiler :
The Group's principal activity is to own and operate nightclubs which provide live adult entertainment, restaurant and beverage services. The Group owns and operates seven nightclubs located in suburbs of Memphis, Tennessee, Indianapolis, Indiana and St. Louis, Illinois. On 05-Jan-2005, the Group sold its Memphis Club in Memphis subsidiary.

Investing in a strip club?............

I could do it even thou I'd never go in one my self.

2003 revenues 9.09 million
2005 revenues $17.00 million
and as you see they're expecting $40 million in 2007.

Remember what Peter Lynch once said...
“Go for a business that any idiot can run - because sooner or later, any idiot probably is going to run it.”

I was in Vegas this weekend and a cabbie explained why the caliber of cabbie is so much higher than in other big cities. These guys are hustling clubs, girls and show tickets all the time and get paid the cover etc to bring customers in. Steve Wynn had them stay at his new hotel for free when they opened so the cabbies would promote their various opportunities.
