Tips On How To Finish Faster?

Nice :) Any happiness problems? England, Babylon and Japan were fine with your expansion, no wars?

Not many happiness issues, getting ND and a religion that gives +4 per cities (pagoda and temple), many colliseum built, a mercantile CS. And once I reach ideology happiness never was a problem anymore.

Lot of wars though, but immortal is rather weak so a couple range units per risky cities are enough.

Finished this game on T224 SV

The key is growth :) Freedom and all parts were bought. You also need strong culture to get the right policies to buy stuff cheaper and to buy space parts. Winning WF is a must. Religion was also helpful - gold for every 4 followers, mosques, 15% growth. But strong religion is not always possible.

One more thing is which I have already posted in another thread that bulbing post patch delays winning time by 10-20 turns since you can't really bulb multiple GS in 1 turn (in order not to waste beakers).

How did you manage to get such HUGE cities? I'm assuming Temple of Artemis is in play here, but what else? The land isn't even that fantastic for growth from what I can tell. How did you manage this? I've gotten my capital that high for sure, but my other cities usually do not break 30 pop.

No ToA this time and no HG.

Food focus in cities (lock some production tiles), 3 food caravans to Madrid, 1 cargo to Seville (Petra), WLTKD as often as possible, Freedom (specialists consume half food), maritime CS allies, and this game also 15% growth from religion.

Went 11 cities with a happy religion and jesuit education ... ending SS don't pay attention to bpt since I sold my labs for last shuttle part.

Random question: If you use JE to faith buy labs with JE, can you then sell them for gold? (Nice win btw.)

I read the latter parts of this thread and decided to give the map a try, then later realized the OP was talking SV. So I'm off topic going for a CV, but also, I noticed 2 strange things I would like some feedback on.
Spoiler :
I got a size 1 city in a peace deal, and once out of anarchy, nothing showed up in the queue until pop 2 - is this normal? Also, the city has stagnated, working 6 apples, but the city screen only gives credit for 4. Huh? I saved and annexed and it made no difference, is this a bug? Pretty much makes this city worthless for now!

I found Uluru with a Scout first, and so spent the 500 gold on a settler for that spot. Took DF, founded t31 with Tithe and Pagodas, enhanced t50 with Mosques and Itin Preach, and reformed t57 with SS. I just finished Patra in Madrid. Have all but 1 in Piety, am debating finisher or starting Liberty or starting Aesthetics. My fpt is going to be huge, so I should go wide and spam religious buildings...

Regarding screenshot 1, this is a known bug when accepting a city in a peace deal while it is not your own turn the city tile will not be counted toward yields calculations.
=> Never accept cities you want to keep in peacedeals while it is not your own turn

For screenshot 2 I'm confused over what your strategy is.

Weird - this peace deal happened during my turn, and I reloaded from earlier, waited, and even when it was at pop 2, and same thing (-2 food).

I'm looking at a Sacred Sites CV.

@Acken
Spoiler :
Since the city in peace was buggy, I reloaded earlier and just took London. Just before that Oda gave me a DOF, now he denounced me, as did Neb and Liz. So even though I hadn't met Assyria or Nappy yet, I have the red modifier for civs they like more than me who denounced me, LOL.

Obviously I am nixing my open borders possibilities here, which is so helpful for a CV. I'm doing a lot of non-optimal things, but it's fun. I couldn't resist Petra with this kind of start. :D Now I just have to get ready for the tidal wave of Japanese units.

Don't understand how. I got ToA in my game, which is better than 15% growth from religion (religion is surplus), and I ended up with:

Cap - 41
First expand - 31
Second expand - 34
4th expand - 22

Focused entirely on food, multiple food trade routes all game. Did you have food CS?]

Ended up with a Turn 256 SV. 225 from earlier in this thread is crazy. I suppose more CS allies and RAs with people would've helped a lot. I ignored those because I'm not used to having them in MP.

Yep, many maritime CS allies are helpful and in this game if you have many CS allies then there is a Patronage policy that gives extra science from CS.

I did not have a single RA since they are weak. I occasionally use them only on Deity. What about hotels and medicals labs? If you get these not only in the capital but in other cities too then that is sort of helpful at the end of game to get a few extra citizens.

What about WLTKD in other cities? Also how many workers did you have? I had 7 workers in total and I had workers very early so cities can sooner start working on improved tiles.

t201
Spoiler :
Weird game. The 3rd and 4th religions didn't come until about t120-30, and the 5th not until 150ish - I have never seen anything like that. Whereas my last game when I had no religion there were a record number of faith quests (I'm guessing 15) the first one just hit here about t200.

With SS I started racking up the Tourism, but then Assyria started to wonder whore, so I am stuck at 40% with them, am Influential with my 4 neighbors. I also didn't meet Pacal until like t150, so had to start from 0. I am trying to get to hotels, and went for Archeology early (which I never do, and was a mistake). So now am behind getting ST, still not sure if I will build Factories or go for Radio for Ideology. Getting the jump on Eiffel would be huge, but my bpt are bad as I am not working enough slots. Many of my cities have been stumped for growth because of happy, or have had to focus on production a fair amount. No Tradition or Liberty has hurt production a lot.

I am 1 away from Aesthetics finisher (don't need it yet), 2 into Rat, and opened Patronage to help with CS - will likely put at least one more there.

Including London I have 7 cities in my core, and I recently settled E to get Sri Pada, silk, and a TR to Pacal. I also settled the island silver S of Liz for that resource and a TR to Assyria.

Liz is actually doing OK after losing London, she built Pyramids and Machu, but just lost a city to Nappy. Neb and Oda double-DOW'd me, but never got many units to me at once, so I never even took any city hits. Between both in peace I got 3 lux, 300+g and 42 gpt. They offered cities but I couldn't handle the happy hit. After the initial coldness, the eastern civs all love me, I have DOF with all 4.

I am pumping 130 fpt with many shrines and temples to be built still. Tithe is bringing in 81gpt currently, this will by far be the strongest religion game I have ever had...

What happened to your tech progress, lol. At t201 I was in info era...

I didn't go Tradition, and really pumped out religion. NWs are hard to get with 7-9 cities, happiness has been terrible, etc. I went after like 6 wonders and missed all of them but Petra, which has not been very useful. Most of my cash has gone to CS... Like I said before, wasted time not bee-lining ST.

t288 CV
Spoiler :
This was a fun map. I won WF and Intl Games easily, and was getting Hotels, Airports, and Towers everywhere, so my tourism was about to go through the roof. I decided to bomb Assyria with 2 4k GMs early (they would have been about 6k in a few turns), as he had surprisingly gone Order, and was starting to not like full trade deals. We had kept DOF basically all game, same with Nappy and often with Poc.

Poc, Pacal, and Liz all followed me into Freedom, Assyria and Neb went Order, and Nappy went Autocracy. I had everybody in Rev Wave via tourism and World Ideology, and was about to ram World Religion down their throats. I totally dominated CS allies a long time. Oda had FP, so always had a proposal, which was always to ban some lux which never passed. This was the rare game where Arts Funding was never even proposed - I knew I wouldn't need it with so much faith, and was worried about Assyria getting too much culture.

Liz and Pacal DOW'd me t234, when I had the weakest army, and Liz had like 5 SotL threatening my small island expo. Luckily I had bought a sub and had a few other vessels - ka-boom! Within a few turns I took Volunteer Army instead of my preferred New Deal, and soon upgraded the FL to Infantry, and suddenly I was #1, LOL. I took Liz's 2nd capital, York, which had Machu, Pyramids, and PT. I don't recall seeing an AI lose it's capital so early and recover so well. Overall, Nappy took 2 of her cities and I took 3, but Nappy got the hate for taking the 2nd to last. I sold Coventry to Assyria to have a place to GM bomb. I also got 17 pop Tikal in Pacal's peace, plus I had my E city doing pretty well considering not much production (7 coal there helped!).

Assyria and Neb stayed at 2 and 3 cities forever, and went full Honor with no wars forever, very strange. Then late Neb decides to go on a rampage, and takes Oda out, which surprised me. Oda never DOW'd Neb, even with different religions and later Ideologies. Poc would absolutely not be bribed, and never fought either.

I have never had so much fpt (212 at end, w/o Grand Temple or all rel bldgs up), DF on this map was crazy, plus having both Uluru and Sri Pada as Spain, wow. 1,267 bpt was ho-hum, as I only had 1 RLab - I just always had higher priorities elsewhere, and was pretty sure Hotels would seal the deal with the SS open. I had all the late wonders, and even themed Broadway by faith buying a GM, which was worrisome. That may have been a mistake, building and staffing the MGuild so early...
