Title gif image problem

Okay I'm having a problem getting my title image to work properly. I converted a 256-color jpeg into a 175-color gif, but when I start the scenario, the colors are all whacked out. How do I fix the colors? What do I do to the image?

By the way, I'm using Jasc Paintshop Pro 7 trial version.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I had the same problem a while ago I belive.

The easiest thing to do is open your title.gif image, go to the 'menu' - 'edit' and 'select all'. Then make a copy out of it, open a title.gif from another scenario that you for sure know works. Then paste your image and overwrite the the existing title.gif.

Voila!

Well, I've tryed to get title.gif to work but when I try it whole game crashes. Odd!

You have to use the correct palettes for title.gif. I don't remember without looking near but as far I remember, the gif has to be also a 256-colour gif. Open an correct title.gif and look what kind of palette is using ("change colours", in Paintshop I think). Then use the same palette for yours.

Oh, and Cleveland, are you sure you have made an NON interlaced gif? Most programms are using interlaced as standard, so you have to switch it off.

Well, I didn't test that interlace thing cause my paint shop pro crashed and won't start up anymore. Don't know whats wrong. Does any one know where to get a new (free) one? (freeware/shareware)

Sorry, no. I loose the link, but in the Civ3 - creation forum somewhere was a link to paintshop pro (free), if I remember correctly.
