Tom's Leaderhead Conversions

Welcome, here you will find my leaderhead graphics conversions from Civ 4. Credits will be noted to the appropriate authors of each leaderhead. Their work is very much appreciated.

All leaderheads come with all appropriate files.

Leaderheads List:

Boudica - Iceni Queen
Dracula
Hammurabi
Hippolyta - Amazon Queen
Poseidon

Hippolyta - Amazon Queen (leaderhead conversion)

Also available is the 'less cleavage' version. You can download it here.

In Greek mythology, Hippolyta or Hippolyte is the Amazonian queen who possessed a magical girdle she was given by her father Ares, the god of war. The girdle was a waist belt that signified her authority as queen of the Amazons.

Credits for Civ 4 leaderhead: Smeagolheart, pencilgod (as shown in download database). Much appreciate goes to these guys for their great work!

Hats off to you for a fantastic idea to convert the Civ 4 leaderheads!! How are you creating the .flcs? Do you have either Hammurabi and/or the Sumerian King in your sights?

My old 3ds Max version has ability to import Nif/Kf files (plug-in); and this is how I have been doing Atlantica Online unit conversions. When you came and made those new fantastic leaderheads, I wondered if Civ 4 leaderheads would be possible to convert (which they are :)). There are so many of them available (like 1000 or so), I figured I would give it a try and see how it went. They probably won't look as good as doing one from Poser, since the polycount is often kept lower in Civ 4, but the models can sometimes have their meshes smoothed back out w/o causing issues.

I can't remember if Civ 4 leaderheads go through 4 eras or not (yes it's been that long since I have played 4)... otherwise I suppose they will all be single era. But sure I can do those, because I will either be occasionally picking random ones, or I can do ones people need.

Actually, thanks goes to you really. Used your tuturial, and seeing your recent LH's is the only reason I even thought to see if it was possible.

Good work! :goodjob:

It's quite funny that you are now converting Civ4 Leaders to Civ3, because I though about the reverse thing not long ago. The files from the database can't be used for convertion of course, but I toyed a bit with importing Poser models to Blender anyway. In fact it works quite well, except for the high polycount. Only with lots of work this count can be reduced to a usable number, which sadly makes a fast convertion of leaderheads impossible. :(

Boudica - Iceni Queen (leaderhead conversion)

Also available is the 'less cleavage' version. You can download it here.

Boudica, formerly known as Boadicea and known in Welsh as "Buddug" was queen of the Iceni tribe who led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire.

So glad you're doing these, Tom. There are some good leaderheads available in Civ 4.

The Steampunk mod could make good use of "Poseidon" by MethylOrange and Dracula by cfkane.

Do the backgrounds come separate? Some of the Civ 4 leaderheads are pretty good leaderheads on atrocious backgrounds. Pencilgod is particularly prone to this, but they all use cheesy photos as backgrounds at some time or another.

My favorites include Pencilgod's Marcus Antonius, Ekmek's Santa Anna and Nero, The Capo's Mongkut and Nehru, C. Roland's Harald Hardrada, cfkane's Fearless Leader, Texpatriate's Sam Houston, and Refar's Wyatt Earp.

I'm sure the modern-era gamers would appreciate GarretSidzaka's Barak Obama, though it would really benefit from a different background.

Very Interesting Project.

I can use any background.. all that is needed is any image file you can conjur up anywhere. In fact, they render extremely fast, about 2 minutes. So it probably wouldn't even be a problem to put a specific BG on any that are already done (Although the PCX take much longer).

I haven't messed around with Poser in a while; too bad Poser can't scale down the poly's ahead of time. Not many LH have been made for 3 in a while, figured I would lend a hand in the best way I know how.

is there any chance these could be modified so that there is less boobage for those of us who do not value neckedness in a leader?

Poseidon (leaderhead conversion)

Poseidon was the god of the sea, storms, and, as "Earth-Shaker," of earthquakes in Greek mythology.

*** If anyone prefers this leader without the Trident when he's angry, I can supply those FLC's since they are already setup and simply need to be rendered.

Although it's possible, it would be time-consuming. Since these are conversions (I didn't make them), the mesh (the NIF model) is imported into 3ds Max mostly in one rigged piece. The clothing is not 'seperate' from the body in these cases, and I cannot simply 'pull the garment up' in that sense. Because of this, I don't know if it would be worth the time to attempt such a thing; as I would have to edit the mesh itself and then flawlessly retexture that portion, or add to it, and doing it quickly would end up looking bad. Doing it to make it look unnoticable would take me alot of time (many many hours).

If it was a Poser model in the Poser program, doing such a thing would be much easier, since that is what Poser is made for. 3ds does have 'cloth' and other abilities, but my experience using those is limited.

.

thank you for considering it anyway.

I'm assuming you mean this Hammurabi?

For Sumerian King, are you referring to this one?

Those would be great - but don't worry about doing them on my account - I'll see what I can do first (in the traditional leaderhead making sense) before I make a proper request!

wow really cool keep them coming!

Would it be possible to bring the camera forward? Zooming in on her face cutting off her chest more then? I don't know much about how this works. Also that angle would better match the civ 3 heads anyways.

:mischief: Yea, you are right, and that would be a quick thing to do. How do I get to thinking too deep into something so simple? When I have the renders done, I'll re-upload the alternatives with the main downloads for both.

Too late! It's already almost done!

Hammurabi (leaderhead conversion)

Hammurabi was the sixth king of Babylon from 1792 BC to 1750 BC middle chronology. He became the first king of the Babylonian Empire following the abdication of his father, Sin-Muballit, extending Babylon's control over Mesopotamia by winning a series of wars against neighboring kingdoms. Although his empire controlled all of Mesopotamia at the time of his death, his successors were unable to maintain his empire. [From Wiki]
